I took about 40 photos of penguins. They are basically adorable and very funny to watch. If you go, take a video camera for penguins.

About the church

Built: 1840 - 42

Architect: Thomas Marsh Nelson

Listing: grade 2

St John's Church occupies a confined site on the West side of Clapham Road, A23, one of the principal arterial roads leading to London. Surrounding land uses are residential.

It was designed by T Marsh Nelson and built as a chapel-of-case for Holy Trinity, Church in 1842 in a Classical style, which is surprising for its date. It comprises a plain brick box with a five bay portico of Ionic fluted columns supporting a pediment, all in painted stucco. The exterior is unaltered except for the addition of a single storey extension at the west end which accommodates a large vestry and store, and the blocking of the eastmost window in the south wall of the nave. ..

Sunny, hot and a beautiful day to ride your bike.

One of the reasons I love this city, we have a Bike to Work Day and actually LOTS of people do ride their bikes to work!

Sunrise on a cool, misty August morning. It was a rollercoaster day of good (Secret luncheon! Pookie on vacation! Cilantro from the farm!) and evil (The lawn service guys! The battery dying in the camera halfway to work! Out-of-control napping!), but the sunrise was innocent and pure.

The built-in leveler said it's horizontal, but hey the train is bending to the left... ;-)

i was bored waiting for the train

I had to be at work really early this morning, so I decided to use that as impetus to get up CRAZY early and walk to work just after dawn. When I told her my plan, Pookie said, "Oooh! You'll get pictures in the magic hour!" HA. Joke was on me. It was just after dawn when I headed out, but the sky was low and gray, with pea-soup fog everywhere.

Took a quick snap on my phone while this passenger was reading. He seemed so engrossed in his book, it must have been a good read?

A collage using imagery from Pan's Labyrinth grabbed from People Magazine.

Some random cosmetic advert, various glyphics from a newsletter from my favorite alt-bubble tea shop in Korea Town off Harry Hines in Dallas/FW.

Things to notice about this piece:

A woman without hair.

A demon without eyes.

The word "money" missing a letter.

Looking back from a compositional standpoint it would have been a nice detail if I had lined up the top of Pan's Labyrinth image with the top of the "mney" text.

Send me an email if you would like me to tell you what the small paragraph on the bottom left reads.

Here's 40th Street Station in Philadelphia. This is the El, also called the Market-Frankford Line, also called the Blue Line. It's run by SEPTA. Yup, 40th St is actually Pink Tile.

I must admit that this year's winter and snow, although beautiful as always, is beginning to be a burden for me. I look forward to spring, when everything will be new.

Happy Fence Friday and a wonderful weekend everyone! :)

Tengo que admitir que el invierno y la nieve de este año, aunque bellos como siempre, se me están haciendo largos y ya tengo ganas de que llegue la primavera, cuando todo será nuevo.

Feliz Viernes Vallero y un magnífico fin de semana! :)

Not really a portrait, but at least it's something.

I'm not sleeping well. I'm not looking my best. I'm not in a mood to smile.

One thing that amazes me about digital cameras is their uncanny ability to capture surface detail. This was, I'm sure, always possible in the analog world, but it took digital for me to appreciate it. It's amazing to me how a photo like this communicates; not in a conceptual, cultural, artistic way, but in the strict presentation of visual information.
