a bit of a drip. not so easy to get closer, sadly, as I can't quite lean out of my window far enough
Water-drip photography—too fun! I colored water in a bowl with food dye with a little milk added to make the water more opague. Then I varied drops of clear water, plain milk, or water dyed in a different color from the water in the bowl dripped with an eyedropper from different heights, which resulted in different heights of the splash.
Then I played with various filters in post-processing for an extra dimension!
I finally snagged a couple of press-pots to make Vietnamese coffee with. Even though I don't drink coffee anymore (for the most part) I was still excited about making some!

I tried my hand at catching water drops tonight. After 318 shots I got several that were passable, but there were four that really stood out!
I used an external flash aimed at a blue paper behind the droplets with no direct flash on the water.
I set my shutter speed to .250 seconds, same as the camera's sync speed for flash. I tried f/8 to f/11 to get as much DOF as I could. ISO set to 200.
External flash was set to 1/64 of full power.
Just fooling around today with the flash gun and a bit of water.....
Taken with Nikon D7000 & 40mm 2.8G Micro Nikkor with SB-700 in manual 1/64 bounced of white card, all PP done in ACR (split toning for colour)
Fish is mixed with sale 50/50 and left in vats for 6 months. Then the sludge is poured into these funnels and the sauc e drips into the old water containers. The sludge that is left is fed to the chooks!

“What is Creative Mondays?
Monday’s are always a drag. The start of a new week, you have to go back to that routine of going to bed early/get up early. If (like me) you have to commute then you prepare for that long journey into work and that long journey back for the first time after a nice two day break.
So to kick off those lousy Mondays, I’m going to get my creative mind flowing in a positive way. Creative Mondays. A chance for me to show off something unfinished or finished that I’ve been working on throughout the previous week.”
I like to start with a clean slate every now and then and sometimes these simple ideas come about. It helps to get these ideas down as they can always turn into something else so whenever something like this pops up I’ll sketch it down or quickly experiment in Photoshop/Illustrator.
I enjoy using white space and simple shapes to focus the attention and creating the ink-drip with the Pen tool gives you a really defined shape.
I think some of the concept of this was inspired by Sam Spratt’s amazing work as he manages to make an incredible liquid paint effect in his work. This piece could work in a lot of different colours and I’m tempted to try out a few other styles/words.

I decided to shoot in RAW format today. The pictures were huge but I had a good experience overall. I wanted to catch the candle dripping. A little bokeh in the background adds a little something something.
This is the building being demolished on Chicago's west side. It's part of the Rockwell Gardens housing project, built in 1961.
Still trying but this time it is not really a good photo. still learning :9
