Getting this picture was an excercize in patience. I'm using my old camera, and it's SO SLOW to write to the card. Also, it's very heavy compared to the camera I usually use!

I enjoy taking these "little" shots nearly as much as the "big" ones. I find it fascinating to try and capture something simple in an interesting way. Not sure I actually do, but it's fun trying!

I am finally home after what seemed like a long week. It was productive in terms of both work and photography. I'll start trying to catch up with everyone soon! Have a great weekend!

After a cold night of -1C degrees, a huge frost and even more huge fog... the sun appeared... and the tree melted.

I drove under this tree on my way somewhere and I had to turn around & go back to capture this - the sun coming through the bare branches warmed the tree and the moisture *rained* down.

It was a magical sight and the residual fog behind the tree makes it all look ethereal.

Andy did not like staying at the animal hospital. He barked a lot. Border collies, especially household pet border collies get a bit of a jumped up view of their station and do not abide being locked up in small cages with a bunch of animals.

Alas however Andy's condition is detiorating, and a drip is needed, so we got the vet to lend us a drip machine.

Andy's liver is not too well.

Symptoms again

Andy drooled more than usual (day 1)

Andy drooled and developed jowls (day 2)

Andy puked up drool (day 2)

Andy puked up white foam (day 2)

So we took him to the vet.

The first blood test showed not so good kidney function. The vet diagnosed Leptospira (even though Andy has had a vaccination against that).

The next morning we took him to our own vet.

The kidney function was back to normal. (day 3)

The temperature had gone down to normal in the morning (day 3)

The Sodium levels in the blood were a bit off (day 3)

Xrays showed that the stomach was enlarged with air (day 3)

Andy was pretty weak.

Barium Xrays showed that the intestines were moving. (day 3 all day)

Andy was on antibiotics and intestine movement enhancers.

A radiologist confirms that there is no blockage of the intestines (day 3/4)

The next day Andy is weaker (day 4)

He has a temperature of about 40 again (day 4)

He can hardly walk. (day 4)

In the evening we take a blood test and find that his liver function is not good. (day 4)

The vet changed to the antibiotic to pentocyllin and administered two liver function enhancing drugs. These are

UPDATE

The illness turned out to be myasthenia gravis. Andy lived to be about 16.

no matter how serious you are, as soon as you enter a korean hospital they put you a drip in your veins.

so everybody walks around in pajama and drip.

even when they go out for a smoke ... tres chic.

and than a cigarette is for sure not as bad as the disease he is curing!

I am using the drip method to acclimate my as yet unnamed betta fish to his new, 12 gallon tank. It's filled a little low so more like 10 gallons, to make a shorter distance for him to the top for air.

I use cardboard on the top and packing foam around the base to keep the water temperature from cooling too fast. The drip can take 2 hours and the tank water is about 80 degrees. No way could that little holding tank hold that temp on its own.

I'm all checked and all clear for another 5 years!

My first attempt at the falling drip. Its harder than it looks and definately requires a better lense than my sigma 70-300...still its an OK outcome and you can make out the room in the drip.
