oh my - i'm out of coffee!!! Starbucks or cafes are not opening till 10am - HELLO???!!! So there goes instant coffee.............instant hand-drip coffee. :)
I was drawing in class and started thinking about drippy font lol, so I scanned it in and traced it in illustrator, still a work in progress I suppose
Whatever was in this water made it lovely and sticky. The front element of my lens took some hefty cleaning to get it back to normal.
Production notes: Brick tripod, hand above camera out of shot to lessen drips and splash back.

A water fountain on Redondo Beach had a leak and was dripping. This bird was catching every drop.
Fungus-infected water is usually terrifing. This guy's kinda goofy.

A drip from the nail polish caught before it hit the table.

Inspired by the post on strobist I set up a drip drip studio. This kind of photos has been done so many times before. I had to try it myself though.
Strobist: SB-900 Bounced on a red piece of plastic to back light the water. SB-800 with blue gel from right to give it a little more depth.
Today I am grateful for water.

Josh loves to play with the water from the kitchen tap. It makes him happy, so we usually let him do it, but I don't really like seeing all that water run down the drain. Not that I am willing to have shorter showers...
But on Thursday the water will be turned off at my place of work for a few hours. It's almost a good enough excuse to take a day off. But it makes me wonder what it would be like if we had no running water for days or weeks. And the rivers drying out isn't the only way that could happen. Natural disaster, terror attack, human mistakes, power failures and a variety of other things could lead to a lack of (drinkable) running water for some time.
It would not be fun. So I am glad we have water we can drink. And water that Josh can play with.

Assignment: Photograph your favorite coffee place. Make that place come alive-like the feeling you get with your first sip. If you don’t drink coffee-that’s okay. Maybe your favorite pub? You don’t drink either…well, that’s too bad :)
Restrictions: No Starbucks-I wanna see local baby!
Dare: Lighting is key-try to portray it in a way that you would see it in a travel book on your city. Try early morning or maybe a close up detail shot.
This is my favorite local coffee place.....HOME! I get to go to few relaxing places - like coffee shops - when I have 3 young children in tow. So, I prefer to brew my own espresso and dress it up at home.
WIT: Adjusting the camera settings to freeze the action of the drip.....one handed shooting while pouring the cream....and the hardest part - waiting an extra few minutes before drinking the coffee :)
