Tanganyika province: 1st November 2017: Peacekeepers from Benin contingent based in Kongolo (390km from Kalemie) conducting foot patrolling in the localities of Majengo at about 3.5 km from Kongolo at Benbatt site. The peacekeepers are interacting with local populations on the security situation and conducting monitoring to stop Maï-Maï militia’s move. DRC: The United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres payed a visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo from the 31 August to 2 September 2019.In Goma he held meetings with the MONUSCO leadership, Staff Union and Humanitarian actors. He also visited the DDRRR repatriation camp in Munigi where he met some ex combatants and their families. In Beni he laid a wreath for fallen Peacekeepers and visited the Mangina Ebola Operations center where he met Ebola survivors and discharged patients. The SG ended his visit in Kinshasa where he held discussions with the President of the Republic, prime minister, National Assembly as well as opposition and governing parties and the civil society. Masisi, Nord-Kivu, RDC - Du 21 au 23 juin 2022, la section des Affaires civiles de la MONUSCO et ses partenaires (Division en charge de la décentralisation et des affaires coutumières et un expert du gouvernement provincial du Nord-Kivu) ont organisé un atelier de renforcement des capacités à l’intention des membres de la Commission consultative de résolution des conflits coutumiers (CCRCC) du secteur de Katoyi en territoire de Masisi. Masisi, North Kivu, DRC - From June 21 to 23, 2022, the Civil Affairs section of MONUSCO and its partners (Division in charge of decentralization and customary affairs and an expert from the provincial government of North Kivu) organized a capacity-building workshop for members of the Consultative Commission for the Resolution of Customary Conflicts (CCRCC) in the Katoyi sector, Masisi territory. Goma, Nord-Kivu, RDC - Une vingtaine de femmes politiques candidates aux élections de 2023 ainsi que des femmes de la société civile du Nord-Kivu ont largement débattu jeudi 23 juin à la «Maison des femmes» à Goma sur la participation de la femme, les comportements électoraux, la communication politique et également la chaîne liée au processus électoral. Ceci au cours d’un atelier de renforcement des capacités organisé par la section Genre de la MONUSCO en collaboration avec la commission PAGE (Pool Action Genre et Elections). L’objectif, selon les organisateurs, était d’inciter les femmes à bien se préparer pour faire face à la législature de 2023. Goma, North Kivu, DRC - About twenty women political candidates for the 2023 elections as well as women from the civil society of North Kivu have widely debated on Thursday 23 June at the "Maison des femmes" in Goma on the participation of women, electoral behaviours, political communication and also the chain related to the electoral process. This was done during a capacity building workshop organised by the Gender section of MONUSCO in collaboration with the PAGE commission (Pool Action Genre et Elections). The objective, according to the organisers, was to encourage women to be well prepared to face the 2023 legislature. Laila Bourhil, head of the MONUSCO/Goma office who attended the workshop, encouraged women to redouble their efforts to make their voices heard in the name of peace and social cohesion. Mavivi, Beni, DRC: 16 September, 202021.Civil Affairs section of Beni Field Office organizes training in integrated approach to the Protection of civilians for officers, men and women of newly arrived Kenyan component of the recently formed MONUSCO quick reaction Force (QRF). The training was opened by the Acting Head of Office of the Grand North Abdurrahman Ganda. Other resource persons were from JMAC and Human rights sections of the Beni Field Office.

She was accompanied by the MONUSCO Police commissioner, the Head of office of MONUSCO in South Kivu as well as senior leadership of other UN agencies in the DRC. Uvira, South Kivu, DRC: As part of the 16 day-activism against sexual and gender-based violence, a team of female and male inspectors from the UN and PNC Police Forces have raised awareness of roughly sixty women from Kilomoni 2 District in Uvira, about the consequences of this plague against women. Kalemie, Tanganyika, RDC - Le Représentant spécial adjoint du Secrétaire général de l’ONU en RDC, Bruno Lemarquis, a visité le 18 juin le site des déplacés de Kabembe ainsi que le village du même nom qui abrite des personnes retournées et relocalisées dans le village de Tabac Congo, en territoire de Kalemie. A la veille du retrait de la MONUSCO de la province du Tanganyika, cette visite visait à s’assurer du bon déroulement du processus de retour dans leurs milieux ou de relocalisation des déplacés hébergés dans ce site ainsi que dans quatre autres sites de ce territoire, dont la plupart existent depuis 2017. Kalemie, Tanganyika, DRC - The Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in DRC, Bruno Lemarquis, visited on 18 June the site of displaced persons in Kabembe as well as the village of the same name which shelters returnees and relocated persons in the village of Tabac Congo, in Kalemie territory. On the eve of MONUSCO's withdrawal from Tanganyika province, this visit aimed to ensure that the return or relocation process of the displaced people hosted in this site as well as in four other sites in this territory, most of which have been in existence since 2017, was going well. Bukavu, Sud-Kivu, RDC - Récemment, la Monusco a remis un important lot de matériel informatique à la Police nationale congolaise (PNC) : 25 ordinateurs de bureau, neuf ordinateurs portables, 25 imprimantes et accessoires qui seront répartis à travers tous les commissariats de la ville. Cette remise a eu lieu lors d’une cérémonie au commissariat provincial de la PNC en présence du gouverneur de province et du commandant de la police provinciale, lesquels n'ont pas manqué de remercier la MONUSCO pour les bons offices dont elle fait preuve au quotidien, notamment à travers ses activités de renforcement des capacités. Bukavu, South Kivu, DRC - Recently, Monusco handed over an important batch of computer equipment to the Congolese National Police (PNC): 25 desktops, nine laptops, 25 printers and accessories that will be distributed throughout all the city's police stations. The handover took place during a ceremony at the PNC provincial police station in the presence of the provincial governor and the provincial police commander, who thanked MONUSCO for the good offices it provides on a daily basis, particularly through its capacity-building activities. In this photo, a vulnerable young woman from Mweso receives a reintegration kit aimed at making her financially independent. Bijombo, Sud-Kivu, RDC : Le 26 juillet 2020, les Casques bleus pakistanais de la MONUSCO ont apporté des soins médicaux d'urgence à un enfant blessé, prévenant ainsi tout risque d’hémorragie qui aurait pu compromettre la santé de la victime. Avec sa mère, ce garçon de 3 ans qui venait de rejoindre le camp de personnes déplacées de Bijombo s’est blessé en faisant une chute pendant la marche. Bijombo, South Kivu, DRC: On 26 July 2020, Monusco’s peacekeepers from Pakistan provided emergency medical care to a wounded child, thus preventing any risk of haemorrhage that could have compromised the health of the victim. Accompanied by his mother, the 3-year-old boy who recently joined Bijombo IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons)’ camp sustained injury as he fell over while walking. Bukavu, South Kivu, DRC - In support of the fight against conflict-related sexual and gender-based violence, MONUSCO Police held a seminar on the issue in Bukavu from 31 May to 2 June 2022, with the support of UNDP. The aim was to discuss the contribution of the security services to national strategies to combat this scourge. In Goma a risk education relay race in “tshukudu”, a traditional wooden scooter used for transportation, was organized. Fifteen teams with local community and personnel from MONUSCO, UN agencies as well as international and national NGOs rode their tshukudus – many for the first time in their lives - across the streets of Goma and later enjoyed a concert with risk education music and messages.

Beni, North Kivu Province Congo: The Undersecretary General (DPKO)Mr. Lacroix and the Director General (WHO)Mr. Tedros Adhanom of the United Nations were in Beni as part of their visit to the DRC. Fataki-Sanduku, Ituri, RDC : À la suite de l'intensification des activités criminelles des groupes armés dans la province d'Ituri, principalement dans les territoires de Djugu et Mahagi, la MONUSCO a renforcé sa présence et intensifié ses opérations dans les zones affectées. Les forces spéciales du Guatemala en appui à celles de l'Uruguay ont ainsi organisé des patrouilles robustes ces derniers jours, comme ici le 1er juin 2020 entre Fataki et Sanduku dans le Trritoire de Djugu, pour s'assurer que les populations civiles poursuivent leurs activités socioéconomiques en toute sécurité. Fataki-Sanduku, Ituri, DRC: Due to intensified criminal activities by armed groups in the Ituri Province, mainly in Djugu and Mahagi territories, MONUSCO has reinforced its presence and stepped up its operations in the affected areas. As a result, the Guatemalan special force in support of those of Uruguay have organized robust patrols over the past few days, as illustrated on this picture, a patrol taking place between Fataki and Sanduku in the territory of Djugu on June 01, 2020, with a view to ensuring that civilian populations are effectively going about their social and economic activities safely.
