Beni, North Kivu Province: The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General in the DRC, Leila Zerrougui has paid a day’s working visit to Beni. She held discussions with the acting Mayor and the command of the FARDC (Operation Sokola 1). She also met with various groupings including civil society and elected representatives of Beni. Discussions centered on the ongoing efforts to flash out armed groups especially the ADF and MONUSCO’S mandate of protecting the civilian population of Beni and its environs. MONUSCO Force Commander General Ricardo Neves was in Matombo (36km northeast of Beni) and then to Mamove (about ten km west of Oicha) an area of armed groups including the ADF and MM and where the Force intervention Brigade has planted its units to protect civilians. He boosted the moral of South African peacekeepers who live in very difficult conditions because of the difficulty of the terrain (rain, sludge etc.) often preventing vehicles from leaving the base ,and encouraged them work to continue to pursue their mandate to protect the civilian population. The United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) launched this Wednesday, November 6 in Kinshasa, a new operating system called "Client Service Delivery Model" (CSDM) ".
CSDM is a client service delivery system designed to facilitate the delivery of services relating to human resources, travels and finance. It was rolled out during MONUSCO general staff meeting held in Kinshasa, in the presence of Paulin Djomo, Head of the Regional Service Center (RSCE), based in Entebbe, Uganda, and of MONUSCO Leadership. National, international staff and uniformed personnel have shown a keen interest in the new Service.
The initiative aims to provide customized assistance to staff members in resolving issues to be brought to the attention of the Human Resources. To help the staff familiarize with the new System, 2-day walk-in sessions are being held from 6 to 7 November at Utex Africa, Kinshasa, where MONUSCO administrative offices are located.
The sessions are aimed to give the opportunity to civilian and military personnel to raise with the Regional Services Center-Entebbe all specific matters pertaining to Human Resources, Travels, Education Allowance, and Finance. Photo MONUSCO/John Bonpengo

He also visited the DDRRR repatriation camp in Munigi where he met some ex combatants and their families. In Beni he laid a wreath for fallen Peacekeepers and visited the Mangina Ebola Operations center where he met Ebola survivors and discharged patients. The SG ended his visit in Kinshasa where he held discussions with the President of the Republic, prime minister, National Assembly as well as opposition and governing parties and the civil society. Kalonge,South Kivu Province,DRC: The civil Affairs section of MONUSCO Bukavu led a Joint Assessment Mission to Kalonge groupment in South Kivu from the 18-20 April 2023. Caption: Goma, North Kivu, DRC: The Nyirangongo volcano, one of the most active in the Great Lakes region, erupted on Saturday, May 22, causing the displacement of populations who feared for their safety. MONUSCO helicopters carried out reconnaissance flights over the crater and brought in specialists to monitor and advice on the state of the volcano after the eruption.
MONUSCO has remained actively engaged alongside the Congolese population and authorities to deal with this situation. Its civil and military engineering team reopened the Goma-Rutshuru-Butembo road section, which is vital for the supply of food to the population of Goma
Peacekeepers in Goma also provided healthcare, distributing food and water to some displaced persons. MONUSCO has also remained present and continues to hold its positions in the city. Its Indian peacekeepers are patrolling 24/7 on the different routes to monitor and prevent theft-related incidents and lootings in abandoned areas.MONUSCO peacekeepers from China are working to improve traffic on the national road n° 2, between Goma, in North-Kivu, and Bukavu, in South-Kivu. making it possible for thousands of vehicles to reach Bukavu and seek refuge against the latest natural disaster which hit the city of Goma.

Goma, Nord-Kivu, RDC - Une vingtaine de femmes politiques candidates aux élections de 2023 ainsi que des femmes de la société civile du Nord-Kivu ont largement débattu jeudi 23 juin à la «Maison des femmes» à Goma sur la participation de la femme, les comportements électoraux, la communication politique et également la chaîne liée au processus électoral. Ceci au cours d’un atelier de renforcement des capacités organisé par la section Genre de la MONUSCO en collaboration avec la commission PAGE (Pool Action Genre et Elections). L’objectif, selon les organisateurs, était d’inciter les femmes à bien se préparer pour faire face à la législature de 2023. Goma, North Kivu, DRC - About twenty women political candidates for the 2023 elections as well as women from the civil society of North Kivu have widely debated on Thursday 23 June at the "Maison des femmes" in Goma on the participation of women, electoral behaviours, political communication and also the chain related to the electoral process. This was done during a capacity building workshop organised by the Gender section of MONUSCO in collaboration with the PAGE commission (Pool Action Genre et Elections). The objective, according to the organisers, was to encourage women to be well prepared to face the 2023 legislature. Laila Bourhil, head of the MONUSCO/Goma office who attended the workshop, encouraged women to redouble their efforts to make their voices heard in the name of peace and social cohesion. Mavivi, Beni, DRC: 16 September, 202021.Civil Affairs section of Beni Field Office organizes training in integrated approach to the Protection of civilians for officers, men and women of newly arrived Kenyan component of the recently formed MONUSCO quick reaction Force (QRF). The training was opened by the Acting Head of Office of the Grand North Abdurrahman Ganda. Other resource persons were from JMAC and Human rights sections of the Beni Field Office.
Kalehe, South Kivu, DRC: The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General in the DRC Bintou Keita was in Kalehe in South Kivu on 18 May 2023,where a natural disaster claimed the lives of several people on 4 May 2023. She was accompanied by the MONUSCO Police commissioner, the Head of office of MONUSCO in South Kivu as well as senior leadership of other UN agencies in the DRC. Uvira, Sud-Kivu, RDC : Dans le cadre des 16 jours d’activisme contre les violences à l’égard des femmes, une équipe d’inspecteurs féminins et masculins de la Police des Nations Unies et de la Police Nationale Congolaise (PNC) a sensibilisé une soixantaine de femmes du Quartier Kilomoni 2 à Uvira, sur les conséquences de ce fléau sur la vie des femmes. Uvira, South Kivu, DRC: As part of the 16 day-activism against sexual and gender-based violence, a team of female and male inspectors from the UN and PNC Police Forces have raised awareness of roughly sixty women from Kilomoni 2 District in Uvira, about the consequences of this plague against women.
