This is how my beard looks when I slather 100 percent anhydrous lanolin on it when it's wet. It maintains the curl. Doesn't really look that different from the brushed-out look, but then again, if you are into beards, fine distinctions matter!

I decided that while I have only a few short days left with my long
hair, I'd best make the most of it by getting it all curly-whirly.
Unfortunately I'm usually too lazy to do this on any sort of 'regular
basis'- which is part of why I'll be bidding it farewell on Friday.
