They are wounds. Wounds caused. And the culprit? . . You can see it and feel it. There, behind the darkness of the road. Radiant, devouring and consuming everything. But inside the monster we survive a few with a small light, less bright, but firmer. We will replace the damage will heal the wounds.

I could speak about Modena in this photo, about how the cloudy sky finally exploded in color during the sunset. I could explain that it was the first time I made a blending of the sunset sky and the night lights of the city. I could tell you that I threw myself on the ground, so this gained prominence in the composition. That I used long exposures and the clone stamp to clean out the people in the square.
But behind this picture there is something else, something important that broke that day. And this photo was only the final blow, the ultimate culprit that the inevitable happened and finished one of those stories that seemed to be drawn from the pen of a great novelist.
I thought not to post-process it first, and not publish it later. But many times what is left in the end are our passions, and in this story it had to be told that photography didn't lose the battle.

Podría hablar de Módena en esta foto, de como el cielo nublado al final explotó en color durante el atardecer. Podría explicar que fue la primera vez que realicé una mezcla del cielo del atardecer y las luces nocturnas de la ciudad. Podría contaros que me tiré en el suelo para que éste ganara protagonismo en la composición. Que utilicé largas exposiciones y el tampón de clonar para limpiar la plaza de gente.
Pero detrás de esta foto hay algo más, algo importante que se rompió ese día. Y esta foto fue solo el golpe final, la culpable definitiva de que lo inevitable ocurriera y explotara por los aires una de esas historias que parecían sacadas de la pluma de un gran novelista.
Pensé en no editarla primero, y en no publicarla después. Pero muchas veces lo que queda al final son nuestras pasiones, y en esta historia había que contar que la fotografía no perdió la batalla.
Llevaba toda la semana queriendo hacer esta foto pero llevamos una semana muy nublosa y ni se veía nuestro Canigou, la montaña, emblemática de los catalanes :-)
No me siento nada culpable para disfrutar del vino tinto producido por mi región de adopción, el Roussillon. El vino representa para mi mis raíces, el labor de la gente de mi país bajo el sol, el tiempo que se destila lentamente y sutilmente en la uva. Y si lo disfruto en buena compañía y con un buen queso, aún mejor! :-)
I am not feeling guilty at all as I'm savouring the red wine produced in my region, the Roussillon. To me, wine represents my roots, the labour of the Catalan people working under the sun, time quietly and subtly distilating through the grapes. Even better when I savour it in pleasant company and with a slice of French cheese! :-)

Let me confess that I am not without sin, but my sins are insignificant to the sins of my church. I am deeply saddened, but not shocked by the revelations yesterday from the Attorney General of Pennsylvania on the Grand Jury findings into the sexual abuse of children by Catholic priests, there have been rumors for years that this was going on and yet nothing was ever done. The Catholic Church can no longer deny the facts that Catholic preists, so-called "men of God" sexually abused children, there is no argument, it is fait acompli. You can NOT put a good spin on something as heinous as this, there is nothing the church can say to right this wrong, nothing and in my opinion, this is something that can not be fixed, this is a broken religion ruled by broken and morally corrupt people. People who knew this was going on and did nothing to stop it are as as culpable as the evil men who committed these horrific acts against children. I have no faith in the Catholic Church to do the right thing.
I am a freelancer which means I have no fixed schedule and perhaps I work more hours than I should. On Costa del Sol, we have 9 months of warm temperatures, so whenever I want to relax I go to the beach for a while. My guilty pleasure is when I'm lying in the sun and I extend the time to return home to work ...

Yo trabajo por mi cuenta, eso quiere decir que no tengo horario fijo, pero también que trabajo más horas de las que debería. En la Costa del Sol tenemos 9 meses de buenas temperaturas, así que siempre que quiero relajarme voy un rato a la playa. Mi "placer culpable" es cuando estoy tumbado al sol y alargo el momento de volver a casa para trabajar…

La decisió d'escriure la història de Hanna i la meva, la vaig prendre poc després de la seva mort. D'aleshores ençà la nostra història s'ha escrit moltes vegades en el meu cap, sempre una miqueta diferent, sempre amb noves imatges i nous esqueixos d'arguments i idees. De manera que, al costat de la versió que he escrit, n'hi ha moltes altres. La garantia que és la certa, és que he escrit aquesta i no les altres. Aquesta versió volia ser escrita; totes les altres no ho volien.
De primer tenia intenció d'escriure la nostra història per desempallegar-me'n, però els records no s'adaptaven al meu propòsit. D'altra banda, també notava com la nostra història se m'escapava de les mans, i a través d'escriure-la, volia fer-la tornar, però en aquest cas el record tampoc no me'l aconseguia. Fa uns quants anys que l'he deixada tranquil·la. He fet les paus amb ella. I ha tornat sola, detall per detall, ha vingut d'una manera tan rodona, tancada i ajustada que ja no em posa trist. Quina història tan trista, he pensat molt de temps. No és que ara cregui que és afortunada. Però penso que és certa i que, a banda, la pregunta de si és trista o no no té cap mena d'importància.
En tot cas em faig aquest raonament quan em poso simplement a pensar-hi. Si malgrat tot em sento ferit, retornen les antiques ferides; si em sento culpable, les antigues sensacions de culpa, i en l'enyorança d'avui, en l'actual nostàlgia d'una llar, sento l'enyorança i la nostàlgia d'aquells temps. Els diferents estrats de la nostra vida descansen tan atapeïdament que en els fets posteriors sempre en trobem d'anteriors, no pas com a cosa feta i enllestida sinó present i viva. Ho entenc. Així i tot, de vegades ho trobo difícil de suportar. Potser he escrit la nostra història tanmateix perquè me'n vull desempallegar encara que no pugui.

Echame a mi la culpa de lo que pase...
Quien sabe si la culpa de que pequeños puntos en la imagen anoche me llevaran a la desesperación a la hora de editar, la tuviese la D600, pudiera ser culpa de cambiar los lentes en algún ambiente no propicio, o quizás la culpa es de utilizar 3 filtros ND para obtener una exposición más larga, quién sabe si la culpa es de escoger mal la hora del día, a lo mejor el culpable es el diafragma tan cerrado que utilice , al final no hay más responsables.
Es parte del razonamiento humano buscar las causas fuera, esa ley de causa-efecto nos mantiene en vilo, buscamos a dentelladas un responsable, un causante, una base, una razón.
Escuchar esta canción de Buena Fé me ha hecho meditar en ello, espero que la disfruten tanto como yo.

Blame me for what happens ...
Who knows if the fault that small dots in the picture last night take me to despair when editing, it was cause by the D600, it might be because of changing lenses in any environment not conducive, or perhaps the fault is to use 3 ND filters to get a longer exposure, who knows if the wrong choice is to blame the time of day, maybe the culprit is so closed diaphragm I choose, at the end no one is responsible.
It is part of human nature look for causes outside, the law of cause and effect keeps us in suspense, always looking at responsable, a culprit, a base, a reason.

En Historias de Irregularidades y abandono, la autora Diana Rossi hace referencia a cómo surgió la modalidad de las Colonias como lugar para chicos judicializados. Con la ley 10.903, por primera vez se incorporaba el concepto de “protección integral del menor”. En su momento, el entonces senador J.A. Roca, único que interviniera en la sesión de la Cámara de Senadores que trató la ley, resaltaba el objeto perseguido por el Proyecto Agote (luego ley 10.903): “corregir los males que dimanan de la infancia, y de la infancia criminal, en todo el territorio de la Nación y, especialmente, en el de la Capital Federal.” Algunos hechos puntuales –la huelga de inquilinos de 1907 y los sucesos de 1919 en la fábrica de Pedro Vasena– favorecieron el tratamiento y aprobación de su proyecto legislativo. Por aquella época, los defensores de menores estaban encargados del destino de los niños y niñas calificados de vagos o delincuentes. La cárcel compartida con los adultos era el derrotero habitual, hasta que se les encontraba colocación en alguna familia. “En 1897 fueron colocadas por órdenes judiciales 767 jóvenes mujeres junto a criminales considerados culpables”, detalla la autora.
Las colonias-escuelas y las colonias-reformatorios ubicadas cerca de las ciudades o en pleno campo serán el tipo preferido de estas casas de prevención y reforma de los menores.
La colonia Marcos Paz, que devendrá a posteriori instituto “Gutiérrez”, resume en sus características las del modelo previsto en la legislación. Si bien ya existían los institutos correccionales cuando se creó en 1904, se adoptó para él el modelo de colonia agrícola tan difundido durante el siglo anterior en Estados Unidos.
El predio en el que se situó la Colonia había pertenecido al general Francisco Bosch, cuya viuda, Laura Sáenz Valiente, vendió al ministerio de Menores. El decreto que aprueba la compra en noviembre de 1903 dispone en su art. 1º: “que la propiedad de que se trata reúne las condiciones necesarias para implantar en ella un instituto destinado a la instrucción práctica de la ganadería, agricultura y de la industria, en el cual puedan instruirse los menores que por falta de padre y de hogar o por sus malas inclinaciones necesitan de la protección del Gobierno o de una dirección especial que les inculque hábitos de trabajo y corrija su deficiencia…”

TORRE DEL AYUNTAMIENTO
Esta torre gótica lo único que queda del antiguo ayuntamiento de Cracovia.
Construida en el siglo XIV con un estilo gótico utilizando ladrillo y piedra para formar parte del ayuntamiento, pero tras la demolición del mismo en 1820 se quedó tan sola como puede verse en la actualidad.
En el sótano de la torre se encontraban las mazmorras de la ciudad y allí tenían lugar torturas en las que los interrogados se declaraban SIEMPRE culpables. Actualmente alberga un CAFÉ.
La iglesia de San Andrés (en polaco: Kościół św. Andrzeja) es un templo católico de estilo románico del siglo XI situado dentro del Centro histórico de la ciudad de Cracovia, en el voivodato de la Pequeña Polonia (Polonia).
Situado en la calle Ulica Grodzka cerca del Castillo Real de Wawel, fue edificado entre los años 1079 y 1098, y fundado en el año 1079 por paladín Sieciech, y es uno de los edificios más antiguos de la ciudad de Cracovia.
En el año 1241, resistió las incursiones tártaras, además de refugiar en su interior a los residentes locales. Fue el centro de la colonia Okol que existió por aquí en el siglo IX antes de la Plaza Mayor y mucho antes del centro actual de Cracovia.
Desde el año 1320 fue utilizado por la Orden de San Clara (Clarisas)
Está edificada en estilo románico, construida como una iglesia-fortaleza, con aberturas defensivas y dos torres. (Wikipedia)

[ENG] The Igreja de São Domingos of Lisbon (Portugal) is declared a national monument by the Institute of Gestão do Património Arquitetónico e Arqueológico. Se añadió a un convento por Alfonso III y se amplió por Manuel I, perdiendo las características medievales. En este templo se sitúa el inicio de la «Masacre de Lisboa de 1506», en la que una turba persiguió y mató a miles de judíos acusados de ser la causa de la sequía, hambruna y pestilencia que asolaron el país, solo la intervención del rey Manuel I de Portugal puso fin al motín enviando a sus tropas reales y castigando a los culpables con duras penas. Ha sufrido importantísimas catástrofes en las que se han perdido valiosas riquezas y que han obligado reconstruirla: el terremoto de 1531, el tsunami de 1755 y el gran incendio de 1994 del que actualmente se aprecian sus huellas. En Historias de Irregularidades y abandono, la autora Diana Rossi hace referencia a cómo surgió la modalidad de las Colonias como lugar para chicos judicializados. Con la ley 10.903, por primera vez se incorporaba el concepto de “protección integral del menor”. En su momento, el entonces senador J.A. Roca, único que interviniera en la sesión de la Cámara de Senadores que trató la ley, resaltaba el objeto perseguido por el Proyecto Agote (luego ley 10.903): “corregir los males que dimanan de la infancia, y de la infancia criminal, en todo el territorio de la Nación y, especialmente, en el de la Capital Federal.” Algunos hechos puntuales –la huelga de inquilinos de 1907 y los sucesos de 1919 en la fábrica de Pedro Vasena– favorecieron el tratamiento y aprobación de su proyecto legislativo. Por aquella época, los defensores de menores estaban encargados del destino de los niños y niñas calificados de vagos o delincuentes. La cárcel compartida con los adultos era el derrotero habitual, hasta que se les encontraba colocación en alguna familia. “En 1897 fueron colocadas por órdenes judiciales 767 jóvenes mujeres junto a criminales considerados culpables”, detalla la autora.
Las colonias-escuelas y las colonias-reformatorios ubicadas cerca de las ciudades o en pleno campo serán el tipo preferido de estas casas de prevención y reforma de los menores.
La colonia Marcos Paz, que devendrá a posteriori instituto “Gutiérrez”, resume en sus características las del modelo previsto en la legislación. Si bien ya existían los institutos correccionales cuando se creó en 1904, se adoptó para él el modelo de colonia agrícola tan difundido durante el siglo anterior en Estados Unidos.
El predio en el que se situó la Colonia había pertenecido al general Francisco Bosch, cuya viuda, Laura Sáenz Valiente, vendió al ministerio de Menores. El decreto que aprueba la compra en noviembre de 1903 dispone en su art. 1º: “que la propiedad de que se trata reúne las condiciones necesarias para implantar en ella un instituto destinado a la instrucción práctica de la ganadería, agricultura y de la industria, en el cual puedan instruirse los menores que por falta de padre y de hogar o por sus malas inclinaciones necesitan de la protección del Gobierno o de una dirección especial que les inculque hábitos de trabajo y corrija su deficiencia…”

El domingo pasado fuimos a Office Depot, y no pude resistirlo ... Tuve que comprar un cuaderno y una pluma linda y encantadora. Si sigues mis fotos desde el año pasado [Proyecto 365, 2012], ya sabes que me encanta todo tipo de cuadernos, lápices, colores, bolígrafos y todo eso, simplemente me encanta. Por lo tanto, creo que este es mi Placer Culpable (tema de la semana). :P
Bordada a mano estilo tradicional solo que normalmente usan muchos colores, y tejen la tela a mano. Esta es tela comercial de algodón con estambre. Los bordes son de crochet hecho a mano. Creo que el pájaro de pescuezo chueco es guajolote.
Me la regalaron en una casa de tejedoras, pues compré huipiles y pagué demasiado después de regatear un rato, y me regaló varias cositas, para no sentirse tan culpable.

I bought huipiles from her, and i paid too much, and so she gave me some stuff to assuage her guilt. :) Hand embroidered with acrylic, hand crocheted edges, very traditional designs, normally done in a riot of colors on handwoven cloth, but to make a servilleta (napkin, or tortilla cloth) they embroider one color on factory made cloth.
