We came across these hollow sand "eggs" at the water's edge at Crosby Landing Beach. Each one had a little hole in the end, and most had a larger opening on the side. There was nothing inside, but we figured it was some kind of creature dwelling.
We walked along the shore looking for one that might be inhabited, and finally we found one that had no visible hole. We opened it and found what looked like a tiny developing crustacean.
I have no idea what it is. I would love some help identifying it, if anyone has any info or ideas.
(It kind of looks like the Silkie from the Teen Titans Go! cartoon.)

Camouflage is a method of cryptic or concealing coloration that allows an otherwise visible organism or object to remain indiscernible from the surrounding environment through deception. Examples include a tiger's stripes and the battledress of a modern soldier. The theory of camouflage covers various strategies which are used.

Very, very rarely does Nature unfolds its treasure trove to human eye. When it does and you happen to be the blessed and privileged one to steal a fleeting glimpse at the flitting phenomenon, you begin to view God in a new light beyond the pale of human religion or understanding. Just look at the photographs of this awe-inspiring insect in size and design, which is barely half the size of a domestic matchstick to sight and even less in its elongated diameter. I had never seen anything like this in my long years before I notice something, perceivably, dangling mid-air a couple of feet above ground by the back door of my car and was seen moving forwards and backwards few inches at that point. At first, it appeared to my naked eye a half broken match stick moving in light breeze as if suspended in air by a very fine strand of a spider’s web invisible to normal sight. My wife and self were thoroughly intrigued when this seemingly inanimate object moved away from the proximity of the car towards the wall. It was then it downed on both of us that it was an animate, tiny creature of God unseen and unheard of by the two of us. We were simply dumbfounded and astonished beyond belief. I then rushed and fetched my camera in double quick time to take a few quick snaps of it before it vanished into the thin air. Suddenly the object of our wonder moved away, rose a few feet and alighted on a piece of glass-shard embedded in the boundary wall of the house. I sorely rued the absence of macro lens or even a general zoom lens in my camera’s kit. I had to do with the only lens I possess, a 50 mm prime f1.4, equivalent of a 78 mm on my camera’s cropped-size sensor. I shall be very grateful if anyone could help me identify this amazing, mind-boggling tiny wonder of Mother Nature. I am posting the actual size photo as well as a cropped and enlarged one of this creature to help you distinguish by putting in perspective the two images together to arrive at some sort of opinion.
Note: I searched the internet to identify the little creature. I have come to some sort of conclusion after culling information on the net that it belongs to the family of grasshoppers. In fact, my search led me to a photo-posting of the same creature, though, of a different colour composition found entirely in a different part of the world, California, U.S.A. A winner of award for macro.
The details of the post I am alluding to are:
{Possibly a "vivid dancer" damselfly
Argia vivida
Coastal trail, Richmond, California}
May photo challenge..day 10..'creature'
Had no idea what I would do for today's theme. Luckily it walked right into my office. Literally. Had a heck of time catching this eight inch long alligator lizard once it got behind all the shelves! ha! These things are fast..and so photogenic :-) Got to love that little face!

same day as this
"Nobody knew what the raven would do
If he found it was rain in your hands
Like a dog set on wheels you will lope down the street
From the sound of the scratch in his claws
As the buildings who hide you knew nothing bout time
But an arrow just brushin' your chin
You said, "Damn be this wind it's still movin' on in
To the bones and the bed of my soul."
I live in a temperate climate. For me, there are two seasons. There's summer and there's "waiting for summer."
On the last full day of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, I will mark our exit from this wonderful season by posting one of the creatures of summertime.
This frog was walking, not hopping. I don't see that very often!
