Very quick 'shop for fun so I don't get rusty.
Work and health problems keep me from doing much these days. Hope you enjoy it. ;-)

This was supposed to be cars going both ways on the highway, but it didn't look so good. They do look better in the clouds, however, and there much less traffic up above. But think of the air traffic control nightmare - there are no traffic lights in the sky.

Black grout, Eye of Beholder mosaic abstract, picture taken with the sunlight behind it. Done on clear acrylic substrate! Made it to Explore November 19, 2007 #221. Flickr says it's my most interesting photo out of almost 700!
This started out as a Fall theme for a mosaic contest. Won 3rd place for that which was tiles, tools, supplies. Later sold it in an art gallery.
Now I see with spiritual insight more than I had planned. The red branches are not an Autumn tree but the Tree or Cross of Calvary covered in His shed Blood. Notice that the branches intersect the eye, when we see with the eye of faith, we behold Calvary and Jesus on the Cross who died for our sins. Jesus did this because sin entered the world thru the Fall of Man when Adam and Eve sinned. We are now all sinners because the Bible says so. "All have sinned, there is none righteous" We need a Savior! He has provided salvation but only to those who believe and accept His finished sacrifice!
Behold the Man of Sorrows acquainted with grief!

ENGLISH
Granada - Arabic: ŲŗŲ±ŁŲ§Ų·Ų© ā Greek: į¼Ī»Ī¹Ī²ĻĻγη (Steph. Byz.) - Elibyrge; Latin: Illiberis (Ptol. ii. 4. § 11) or Illiberi Liberini (Pliny iii. 1. s. 3); ā is a city and the capital of the province of Granada, in the autonomous region of Andalusia, Spain. It is situated at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains, at the confluence of two rivers, Darro and Genil, at an elevation of 738 metres above sea level. At the 2005 census, the population of the city of Granada proper was 236,982, and the population of the entire urban area was estimated to be 472,638, ranking as the 13th-largest urban area of the Spanish Kingdom. About 3.3% of the population did not hold Spanish citizenship, the largest number of these (31%) coming from South America.
The Alhambra, a Moorish citadel and palace, is in Granada. It is one of the most famous items of the Muslim, Jewish, and Christian historical legacy that makes Granada a hot spot among cultural and tourist cities in Spain. The Almohad urbanism with some fine examples of Moorish and Morisco constructions is preserved at the part of the city called the Albaicin.
Granada is also well-known within Spain due to the prestigious University of Granada and, nowadays, wild night-life. In fact, it is said that it is one of the three best cities for college students (the other two are Salamanca and Santiago de Compostela).[citation needed]
The pomegranate (in Spanish, granada) is the heraldic device of Granada.

Not an easy task to capture a ball that refuses to find the plane of focus. You would think that dropping the ball from the same point would yield the same bounce pattern. But NO ! All those cute dimples cause it to leap in many different directions. Ask any golfer. The repeating strobe light is from an SB-800. The power was reduced to 1/64. 24 exposures at 30Hz. The flag pole is actually at Fort McHenry, Baltimore, MD...The night before Francis Scott Key conceived the Star Spangled Banner, he witnessed the bombardment of Baltimore by the British Fleet September 1814 (War of 1812...go figure) from the deck of a U.S. truce ship. The oversized (42 X 30 feet) flag had been commissioned the week before By Major George Armistead because he wanted the British to "have no difficulty seeing it from a distance". Key saw the flag still flying over Fort McHenry from Cheaspeake Bay. The original flag, made by Mary Pickersgill is displayed in the Smithsonian Institution's Museum of American History in Washington, D.C.

Taken in the Egyptian galleries at the Brooklyn Museum. Surrounded by thousands of years of history and millions of dollars of art objects this little boy found the view outside the window much more fascinating. The bright color of the wall and the stripes on his shirt are a perfect match - too perfect not to take. He's not alone with his fascination of what's outside I love seeing what's out there too.
I wasn't sure what to do for a photo tonight. I'm still fighting the end of a cold and having a busy tech week at work.
And then inspiration struck and I realized that while I haven't had the time or energy to make a new full-sized tutu, that shouldn't stop me from taking a tutu shot! I stopped short of figuring out how to attach arms to my finger... but I certainly thought about it!
Man... I guess I really am all about writing stuff on myself this week.

Good morning. Because of the interest and dialogue centered around coffee from the last coffee bean photo posted I thought I would create a short, but informative series centered on what is many people's favorite beverage. The series will be more about the information and commentary than the photos, but I hope you enjoy the images also.
This first installment will center on the bean itself as understanding the complex world of coffee is a little like trying to understand wine...very intimidating to some. But you don't have to be an aficionado to brew great coffee at home. You just need to pay attention to a few details...starting with the beans.
There are only two kinds of coffee beans: "robusta and "arabica". Robusta is less expensive to produce and is used primarily in canned and instant coffee. It contains twice as much caffeine as arabica and is generally harsh in flavor. The majority of the world's coffee is arabica. It's definitely superior to robusta, but the quality of the beans can vary greatly so you need to find a trusted brand or source.
The flavor of the coffee is locked inside the green, unroasted beans. Roasting unlocks and helps develop the flavor. Longer roasting and higher temperatures make the beans darker and oilier, but sometimes border on being charred and bitter tasting from over roasting.
One last thing on beans and that is choosing coffee based solely on it's name is confusing. That's because beans can be named for their growing region (e.g. Kenya, Columbia, Brazil, Jamaica, etc.) and/or how dark they were roasted. A good thing to remember is there are only two kinds of coffee beans and that anyone can name/label coffee beans whatever it wants. So it's best to choose your coffee beans based on the degree of roast, which I'll elaborate more on further in the series.
Next installment will focus on freshness of the coffee/bean and maintaining it.
Take care...and I hope everyone has a wonderful day.
