Took a step back from our camp we had set up on the day and snapped this. Interesting how the Umbrella post kinda seperates the dark half vs. the lighter half.

Ice encased Crape Myrtle after an ice storm in 2002. We haven't seen anything near as exciting to date. Maybe we'll get lucky this year (and yes, AZTransplant, snow instead of ice would be most welcome! )

Thanks to Bubba for the title, but I probably spelled it wrong and won't hear the end of it from him :-)

Taken with a Nikon 8008s in 2001. This is a scan.

Snakeshead Fritillary / fritillaria meleagris. Iffley Meadows, Oxford. 04/05/16.

This was the first time I had ever seen wild Snakeshead Fritillaries. A visit to a BBONT traditional river meadow site, close to where I was born, enabled me to relish the spectacle of these understated flowers.

Iffley Meadows has always been a traditional site for them. Back in the 1930's-50's, Snakeshead Fritillaries grew so prolifically here that local girls went on annual picking parties, creating bunches to sell in Oxford Market.

Thankfully, the species hung on in this stronghold and now, with controlled grazing and careful management by the BBOWT, numbers have increased again to healthy levels.

I visited on a beautiful warm sunny Spring day. However a constant, (at times, very strong) breeze made photography challenging. The flower heads were always on the move, swaying about.

This image is a creative attempt at capturing the essence of the Snakeshead Fritillary on the day.

Digital collage assembled from other works.

"These strings are alive!"

Our cat Guapo (Handsome) in his pin-striped suit. He loved to play with the vibrating strings, feeling the buzz and hearing the odd sounds that would come out of my guitar amp. Taken

at my bachelor apartment, just me an' Guapo.

I still miss him.

I did encourage him to play and Guapo would sometimes entertain us with his musical concerts. He didn't sound that great but he played with energy! Quality on this is a bit rough, though. I was still a newcomer to Flickr back then.

Thanks All for 114, 557 views as of 15 10 2025. This is my top most viewed image on Flickr. I miss Guapo.

Thanks All.

This heart was a mural painted (circa 1994) in the darkest part of the Deep Ellum tunnel which is now gone, and seen by very few driving through the tunnel, in Dallas Texas.

Old screen door to an old store. I think they sell Texas chainsaws in there.

Numbskull (three-quarter view), 2007.

One plastic skull, 630 "extra power" paracetamol. No diamonds.

This shot is hand held (no flash) with my elbows resting on the intake of a jet engine. I liked the pattern of stress marks and was surprised how visible they were with this shot..

If you look closely you can see my son sitting on the grass reflected in my eye...

This photo is virtually as it was off camera. A few corrections to remove the reflections from the ringlight, minor cropping, and some dust removal. All the colours are 'as was'. As with the previous shell shots, this is a 1:1 macro shot of a 1cm diameter shell.

Probably the most interesting shot in my stream when viewed full size, details, details, and more details.

Once upon a time - way back in December - I took a bunch of funny face pictures for folks and kept promising to post them. Then I got my new camera and got distracted by the pretty pictures it took, as opposed to these heinous little treats. But I'm finally coming through.

My apologies in advance for the nightmares...

Is the glass door of the kitchen

Behind the glass

Black = vacuum cleaner

Pink = remove dust

Blue = palette

Yellow = bag

Red = drawing on bag

Instead of uploading multiple photos of the same subject I decided to use Flickr toys, and I kind of like it :)

Wishing you a superb Monday my friends :)
