With the ANC NEC, Day of Corruption, more like.

Colorful wall and shutter in Venice, Italy.

Had myself a little weed macro session this afternoon with coloured papers. The really funny thing was me trying to explain to a friend why I was returning home with a fistful of weeds from a vacant lot :-D

Mountain mahogany just has the coolest seeds, what can I say? This shrub is VERY common across the western U.S., but I'd bet this striking seed arrangement is a one-of-a-kind.

This is a picture I took and had fun with graphically of my granddaughter shortly after she was born. I don't have very many outstanding photos of her in the hospital because, when she was born, her lungs didn't open up since she was born in such a high altitude. As a result, she was hooked up to many wires and IVs and taped down to some little boards. It was all so terribly sad to watch in the video our son, her daddy, took of it all.

I was unable to go in and see her because I had a small fever at the time. Her mother just had her through C-section and was pretty messed up because of it. At first the nurses weren't even going to let her see her dear little daughter, but one had complete mercy on us. She sneaked me around the hospital as though we were on Mission Impossible, bobbing our heads in here and out there, so that I could at least get a peek at my first grandchild through the glass window of the door into the special nursery. This wonderful nurse didn't stop there. She had my daughter-in-law wheeled in on her gurney so that she and her baby could be together during those first few precious moments.

It was all so much that I just cried and cried. The nurses thought I was sad because I couldn't see her or hold her, but that wasn't it. It was everything combined. I was especially so relieved that my daughter-in-law was O.K. and a little scared that my sweet baby granddaughter wasn't going to make it though she did. Her lungs opened up about a day later, if I remember correctly. We were all so relieved and nearly collectively sighed.

Seriously, I had been such a basket-case before she was born while getting ready to go to the hospital that I actually found myself at the hospital wearing mismatched shoes. My oldest son was the one who had to tell me... They were the same type of shoe, but one was black and one was brown. LOL! If you knew me, you'd know this was a once in a lifetime deal! My husband was so loving and understanding that he went home to get the matching shoe. Then when it started to get rough, I guess the flood gates let loose.

Anyway, I took a photo I had taken of her when they brought her home and superimposed it on this rose that I borrowed from Mark Charneski and then added everything else. If you'd like to know how I did it, feel free to drop me a line. It would be my pleasure to share how.

When I looked at this picture, I was reminded of Psalm 139:13-16 which states quite clearly that God saw each of us as a whole person before we each took a first breath. After seeing this little one when she was first born along with my grandson who came a little later that year, I'd have to say unequivocally that I agree. Here is the passage as a whole:

You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. (Psalm 139:13-16, 1984 NIV)

Proud to "Dance" that which tells a story!

shot at a starbucks near sevilla metro station on calle alcalá, madrid. we grabbed a seat at a high table by the front window â nothing fancy, just a coffee stop. but the large, semi-frosted glass turned out to be a hidden lightbox. soft, even light poured in from the side, wrapping the subject in this clean, natural glow. no reflectors, no strobes â just the right place at the right time. a portrait that looks like a studio setup, born in the middle of a café.

a little somthing to brighten your day for my young friends and the young at heart x

Dark crow, set me free.

Set me free, let me be.

Carry my soul to the other side

so there I may forever reside.

If I must return to write a wrong,

with the people I may live among.

No loneliness, no solitary

for me. Dark crow, set me free, let me be.

Hello Flickr friends. I am returning today. I very much appreciate the notes that were left on my images and also for those of you who took the time to email me with concern and well wishes. Thank you.

This is a picture I took of my oldest son and his wife's rings on their first wedding day at the courthouse. A few weeks later, they had a formal wedding; but they were so in love that they just couldn't wait for the original date...

I worked on it a bit in PhotoImpact 10 and came out with this picture. I know, "Hiss" because it's not Photoshop. I have Photoshop CS, but I find that PI is much easier to use. The effects are just as good in my lowly opinion, and it often has more to offer.

I am reminded of this passage when I remember their wedding: "Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame" (Song of Solomon 8:6-7, 1984 NIV).

I ask the same of the Lord for me with Him.

maybe i think too much but why when some people die there are more people morning their death! were their lives of me or you more important or ours less ???

Skull from tootdood

FREE texture from NinianLif

some geek notes!

Bit of playing with levels, and shadow/highlight. Duplicated level, converted to B&W with red filter. bit of burning around the facial hair. lots of dodging on the skin. duplicate b&w level. added sepia tint to the top b/w layer and greenish tint to the bottom b/w layer. both set to soft light blending, and merged together. opacity reduce to about 75%.

Dragged the skull on top, erased touches on the skull after resizing and positioning. then created a new layer. filled the new layer to black. then some playing with various bending modes (i can't remember what i use! but it was a mixture of 2), till it looked right!

Use elliptical marquee tool to select around my eye, and set 25 to 50px feather, and erased on all 3 layers so that eye was clearer to see!

flatten image, before adding texture (set to soft light blending and resized to fit the longest side!). frame added, and image flattened again!

Reshot my original Levels & Curves photograph with a smaller aperture to retain glass detail above the curve of the jelly. I still prefer the original as it is more unusual and seems cleaner around the surface of the jelly than this photograph. Please let me know what you think.

This is one of the covered passageways linking the Queen's House and the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, London. The collections are stunning...likewise the public gardens. Set aside at least half a day for your visit and include the Royal Observatory and the nearby market - the relatively short walks are well worth the effort :-)

Al fondo el continente africano y Ceuta. At the bottom the African continent.

Continente: Europa. Altura: 19 metros

Altura sobre el nivel del mar: 49 metros

Alcance: 30 millas.

-------------------

The lighthouse was built between 1838 and 1841. It was fully automated in February 1994 and its loom can be seen over a distance of 27 km. It is the southernmost lighthouse for which Trinity House is responsible, and the only one outside the UK.

Every year the Gibraltar Amateur Radio operators transmit from the area of the lighthouse.

Europa Point is the southernmost point of Gibraltar. At the end of the Rock of Gibraltar, the area is flat and occupied by such features as a playing field and a few buildings. On a clear day there is a good view of the Strait of Gibraltar; Africa, including the Rif Mountains of Morocco; and the Bay of Gibraltar and the Spanish towns on its edge.

There are three notable buildings, the new Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim Mosque, the Roman Catholic shrine of Our Lady of Europe, and a lighthouse.

Gibraltar is a British possession at the northeastern entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar, which joins the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. It is dominated by the famous Rock of Gibraltar, a giant monolith 246 m (almost 1400 ft) tall. Its name comes from the Arabic Jebel Tarik, Tarik's Mountain, after the general who led the Moslem conquest of Spain in 711 AD. More important today is the conquest of Gibraltar by British and Dutch marines during the War of the Spanish Succession in 1704. As a result of that war, Spain ceded Gibraltar to Britain in the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713, and it has remained in British hands ever since. The territory has a population of about 28,000.
