"love this red and orange color filled the sky. It's really like that people put their hope in the lanterns and let them fly!" quoted from fred's comment. thanks!
"In order to appeal for Heaven's blessings following the 921 earthquake, the Taipei County Government specially commisioned a huge heavenly lantern sixty-seven meters in height and weighing two hunderd kilograms for the 2000 Pingsi Heavenly Lantern Festival." Since then, the Sky Lanterns Festival becomes a very special day in Taipei County's Pingsi Twonship.

Bienvenidos todos los recuerdos/All Memories Welcome (Público)
It was a rainy night to watch the releasing of large, balloon-shaped lanterns into sky. Hundreds slowly rise into air, creating beautiful, peaceful scene.
this is one of traditional events at "Taiwan Lanterns Festival" since 1990...
Pingsi is a rural township in the north eastern part of Taiwan. Located in a remote mountain area outside of Taipei and run through by Keelung river, it was a small coal mining town in the early 20th century.
Sky lanterns are traditionally lanterns made of oiled paper with a bamboo frame that contain a small candle or other combustible material (such as the fake prayer's paper money). When lit the candle heats the air and causes the lantern to rise into the air. Ideally the lantern floats back to the ground when the fuel for the flame is exhausted. Sky Lanterns are also known as "Kung Ming lanterns", since some say they were invented by Chu Ke-liang (also known as Kung Ming) during the Three Kingdoms period as way of communication during war time.
During Lantern Festival, all kinds of red and orange sky lanterns light the still night sky over the village of Pinghsi creating a scene of unusual beauty.

Good morning...sorry about my hiatus this week...its been kinda crazy, but I'm back now. I was inspired last night by a photo I saw while Exploring, so I had to give this a shot myself...ok...shoot me for not being original...thanks to the help of the AE-1, a tripod, a 60 watt incandescent light overhead, 2 100 watt Flourescent studio lights on each side, another tripod, a self timer, and of course my trusty XTi!
"This Strawberry Was NOT Harmed in Making of this Shot!"
I had another go at it, this time on black. Makes it harder to deal with reflections than using a "white" background.
I was racking my brain where the blue reflections were coming from until I was starring at my towel behind me - ha, ha. Cloned some of them out, but not all...
Also, I was a bit too slow in the left hand-toss-rigt hand-press shutter department and a tad too late, the strawberry just hit "glass bottom" when the flash fired. I am still quite happy with the result, though...
This shot was taken at ISO-500 with a shutter speed of 1/250s and an aperture of f/5.6. I tried a shutter speed of 1/500s too, but somehow screwed up the manual focus on those shots.

A vivid collision of regulation and nature—this playful scene captures a "No Parking" sign perfectly juxtaposed with a cheerful potted plant in the heart of Andalusia. A quirky snapshot of Spanish street charm where rules meet creativity.

Snakeshead Fritillary / fritillaria meleagris. Duffield LNR, Derbyshire. 13/04/18.
'FINDING SNAKES INSTEAD OF TOADS'.
After enduring a cheerless week of rain, mist and cool temperatures I was keen to visit a local Derbyshire nature reserve to check if there were signs of any toads spawning yet.
(On 9th April, the first toads of the year had been seen heading for the ponds which are currently badly flooded, forming one large area of water!)
Despite a thorough search around the banks and surrounding grassland, I couldn't find one toad! As for the pond, the water surface remained frustratingly smooth, no writhing 'toad balls' and no sounds either. The nearest I got to Bufo bufo during the afternoon was a small heap of innards and a couple of dried spawn deposits!
The afternoon redeemed itself when I came across a group of Snakeshead Fritillaries, some standing in water halfway up their stems, I love these understated, nodding flowers.
