We are creating an Art Float for Social Change at Tam Makers, to inspire more people to participate in democracy. Our parade float will reach out to youth and people of color through art, music and technology. We will present this art show on Earth Day, Memorial Day and Fourth of July parades in Marin -- and throughout California this fall, to encourage people to vote in the next election.

Our unique art float celebrates mother earth with a carousel of waving hands, pulled by a giant feathered serpent. Performers will tell stories of hope on a stage decorated with scenes of a better world. Large signs will invite people to speak up and vote! You can pitch ideas for social change on the podium, or have them scroll on the news ticker.

This community art project is created by a team of students and makers, led by Fabrice Florin and Geo Monley, co-founders of Tam Makers in Mill Valley. We are grateful to Tam High School for hosting this project and to all our wonderful volunteers and art, civic and educational partners, for helping create this float and present it to a diverse community.

We are building this project in March and April 2018, on Thursday evenings from 4 to 9pm -- or Saturday mornings from 10am to 1pm. If you would like to volunteer, please email us at float@tammakers.org.

Spun for Ravelry's picto-create setting salt pond thread. 12/5/08. Handspun yarn, white cormo wool, brown/grey corriedale X, yellow/orange mystery wool, purple mohair, and a touch of black fleece. Plied with pale pink and white fine silks from Webs. 132 yards.

I created the design above for "branding" our internal communications for the nine70 Beach Reach 2011 Mission Trip. We had color coded luggage tags and key chains using the design above. There were also phone lists and other handouts that utilized the same design, adding a consistent look to all internal communications.

Finally, I created a mobile website for the team to utilize on the trip. The site had a schedule, room assignments, information on how to tweet to our message boards, and guides to help our team spot and prevent alcohol poisoning. It is still online at br2011.nine70.org.

No photoshop on merging or stacking.

400 NSW students created a giant mosaic on Wednesday 1 June during the lead-up to World Environment Day (5 June 2016) at Albury, jointly organised by AlburyCity and the Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH).

The Sloane’s Froglet is one of almost a thousand animals and plants threatened with extinction in NSW which the NSW Government Saving our Species program aims to secure in the wild.

The SoS program works in partnership with schools, volunteers and Councils, such as AlburyCity, to save species that are at risk of extinction.

Try this for fun.

1 .Take a nice landscape image and dupe the background layer and put it in exclusion blending mode.

2. Add a layer mask and make sure the mask is chose and got Filter > Render Different Clouds ON THE MASK. Set layer at about 60% opacity.

3. Add a blank layer and go Filter > Render > Clouds, put in SCREEN overlay mode and make opacity at about 50%.

4. Add a levels adjustment layer and set the left (dark) output level at 30 and the right (light) output level at 230.

It's an interesting start. If you have a bright and colorful image you may wish to reduce it's saturation at bit. In my case I just duped layer, desaturated it, put in color mode at 30% opacity.
