The Gibberd Garden was created by Sir Frederick Gibberd who designed Harlow New Town and is situated just outside it. The grounds are filled with sculptures, ceramic pots and architectural salvage selected by him from 1972 until his death in 1984. These images have an infrared theme to bring out the sculptures from the surrounding foliage. Selective colour has been used where the sculptures have colour as part of their design.
We are creating an Art Float for Social Change at Tam Makers, to inspire more people to participate in democracy. Our parade float will reach out to youth and people of color through art, music and technology. We will present this art show on Earth Day, Memorial Day and Fourth of July parades in Marin -- and throughout California this fall, to encourage people to vote in the next election.
Our unique art float celebrates mother earth with a carousel of waving hands, pulled by a giant feathered serpent. Performers will tell stories of hope on a stage decorated with scenes of a better world. Large signs will invite people to speak up and vote! You can pitch ideas for social change on the podium, or have them scroll on the news ticker.
This community art project is created by a team of students and makers, led by Fabrice Florin and Geo Monley, co-founders of Tam Makers in Mill Valley. We are grateful to Tam High School for hosting this project and to all our wonderful volunteers and art, civic and educational partners, for helping create this float and present it to a diverse community.
We are building this project in March and April 2018, on Thursday evenings from 4 to 9pm -- or Saturday mornings from 10am to 1pm. If you would like to volunteer, please email us at float@tammakers.org.

Try this for fun.
1 .Take a nice landscape image and dupe the background layer and put it in exclusion blending mode.
2. Add a layer mask and make sure the mask is chose and got Filter > Render Different Clouds ON THE MASK. Set layer at about 60% opacity.
3. Add a blank layer and go Filter > Render > Clouds, put in SCREEN overlay mode and make opacity at about 50%.
4. Add a levels adjustment layer and set the left (dark) output level at 30 and the right (light) output level at 230.
It's an interesting start. If you have a bright and colorful image you may wish to reduce it's saturation at bit. In my case I just duped layer, desaturated it, put in color mode at 30% opacity.
Built between 1965 and 1969, this modernist State Capitol building was designed by Belt, Lemon and Lo of Architects Hawaii Ltd., and John Carl Warnecke and Associates. The building was built in a variant of Modernism known as the “Hawaiian International Style” and draws heavy inspiration from natural and traditional forms found in the Hawaiian islands, including two reflecting pools (presently undergoing renovations) that represent the Pacific Ocean, cone-shaped house and senate chambers that resemble volcanoes, columns shaped like royal palm trees, with eight columns in four rows symbolizing the eight main islands of Hawaii, an open air design that takes advantage of the pleasant climate, and a roof that resembles the shape of a volcano. The building also features vertical concrete and metal ribs to shield its curtain walls from the sun, a top floor that overhangs the rest of the building and creates a distinctive top to the structure, breezeways to the front and rear that connect the central atrium to the street and the walkway adjacent to ‘Iolani Palace, as well as multiple examples of modern art. The distinctive building is a uniquely Hawaiian design, and differs greatly from the Neoclassical designs of most other United States Capitol buildings. The building is a contributing structure in the Hawaii Capitol Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
