Created by Robert Laurent (1890-1970), The Birth of Venus (1958) is commonly known as Showalter Fountain after its patron, Grace Montgomery Showalter. The sculpture depicts the birth of Venus, rising from a clamshell, surrounded by fish.
This morning, I was thrilled to see our Agapanthus "Lily of the Nile" bursting ready to reveal its blue blooms. The light was wonderfully delicate, so I grabbed my camera adjusted for white balance and spot metering and voilà.
Created for the rain challenge. When everybody else gets lovely rain drops I get a wolf spider scurrying down the drive looking for refuge from the rain.
