A juvenile cooper's hawk warming up in the early morning sun.
I couldn't find a lot of information of this behavior, but based on it's wet feathers and it's position in the sun, it looks like it was trying to dry off.
A cooper is a person who makes wooden stave barrels. His goods are called cooperage, which would not be limited to just barrels. They would also make buckets, tubs, butter churns, hogsheads, firkins, pins and breakers.

At Salt Island grab your mask and snorkel and check out the wreck of the Royal Mail Steamship Rhone which sank during a hurricane in 1867. After lunch sail right next door to Cooper Island (8nm) where you can pick up a mooring in front of the beachfront restaurant.
Cooper's Hawk at the Montlake FIll, just north of the SW pond. This one hopped up to the perch just as I walked up and let me get fairly close.
Now, I suppose this could be a Sharp-shinned hawk. It seemed too big to me to have been one though. Arguments in favor of it having been one are welcomed.
The Cooper Union Building where the Cooper Institute speech, was delivered by Abraham Lincoln on February 27, 1860, at Cooper Union, in New York City. Lincoln was not yet the Republican nominee for the presidency, as the convention was scheduled for May. It is considered one of his most important speeches. Some historians have argued that the speech was responsible for his victory in the presidential election later that year.
In the speech, Lincoln elaborated his views on slavery by affirming that he did not wish it to be expanded into the western territories and claiming that the Founding Fathers would agree with this position. The journalist Robert J. McNamara wrote, "Lincoln's Cooper Union speech was one of his longest, at more than 7,000 words. And it is not one of his speeches with passages that are often quoted. Yet, due to the careful research and Lincoln's forceful argument, it was stunningly effective.
Horace Greeley's New York Tribune hailed it as "one of the most happiest and most convincing political arguments ever made in this City. ... No man ever made such an impression on his first appeal to a New-York audience.
I hiked the 100 Mile Challenge as part of my goal to section-hike the Michigan portion of the NCT. I started at the Mackinac Bridge in September, 2014 and reached Rockford this past fall, completing 134 miles in 2016. For most of my NCT hike I have been accompanied by my hiking partner, Cooper, my yellow lab.

The Cooper River Bridge leading into Charleston, which is apparently "North America's longest cable stay span"**; I was half-lost when I got to this point, but it's easy to hit one of the major interstates and get reoriented around here.
