Cooper’s Hawk – Boulder, Colorado ©Carolyn Beach. Photo taken on the Wild Bird Center of Boulder, CO Saturday Bird Walk on November 2, 2013.
The one bird that got in front of my camera today. I'm sure this is one of the Coopers I watched grow this summer. I saw at least three hanging around together, chasing my Crows around the park! They put on a very fine display of their flight skills for me today! Very exciting!

Emmanuel Cooper in 'Prints and Ceramics in the City' at Yorkshire Artspace: 7 - 28 May 2011
Potter Emmanuel Cooper’s first solo show was in 1968 and since then he has continued to regularly exhibit his vessels which are characterised by an interest in marrying relatively classic forms to vibrantly coloured glazes and unusual textures. But he also has other interests: he was a founding editor with Eileen Lewenstein, and since 1996 has edited, the highly respected magazine Ceramic Review, he is Visiting Professor at the Royal College of Art and has been awarded an OBE for his services to the arts. However in spite of his writing and teaching activities, Cooper remains at heart a potter, saying, ‘The head, heart and hand literally and metaphorically come together when I'm creating.’
Pics of a neighborhood juvie Cooper's Hawk that terrorizes the neighbor (and the backyard) birds. Almost everyday, even though I don't see him (or her), I hear the local alarms going off (Blue Jays).
Cooper-Molera Adobe was home to three generations of Coopers. Built in the 1820s and remodeled many times until 1900, it now houses a visitor center with a shop full of old-time treasures. Don't miss its historic garden.

Cooper Hawk hiding under the Juniper bush waiting for a bird to come to the feeding area a couple of feet away. He went away with empty talons.
Cooper's Hawk (Accipiter cooperii)
After the cooper flew off from the trestle dome, I noted that it had kept low in its flight. So after taking some more photos of flowers, I walked to the corner of the garden and saw, on this small shed on the hill, these three juvenile coopers. Now, the two basking in the sun might be the juveniles, and the other, the mother, but they all have the same dark feathers on the crown of their heads, so I am assuming they are all the same age.
