Oooo.....'atomic cloud'!! The teaching chef might have added a tad bit more of the local Banana Rum and 'boom!' goes up the flame, leaping out of my cooking pan, in a fiery expression of drunken glee!
I could feel the heat searing the skin of my arms but I held on the pan like a pro and waited for the inferno to dissipate. I think my eyebrows are still intact!
The spoils of the drunken 'fission' - lovely caramelised mangoes, served with a simple orange juice (syrupy type, out of a bottle...sigh) glace and a scoop of ice cream.
The eight finalists for a simulated Mars mission met at Martha Van Rensselaer Hall, home of another of the study's leaders to take cooking lessons from hotel school chef Rupert Spies, pictured here, and other tests of their "nasal patency," or smell, with Jean Hunter, a professor of biological and environmental engineering, and Bruce Halpern, professor of neurobiology and behavior.
