Mathias hands over solar cooker on tricycle to help people make money by selling solar popcorn

There's no Zojirushi within easy reach/google of me with a reasonable price and reasonable peace of mind (I would have liked some form of warranty that I can wrangle and kill the salesman over). The cheapest and most reliable came to about $350 on ebay.sg.

This 5.5cup Tiger was $250 (I kind of regretted it later on when I found a 10 Tiger 10 cupper for $260 at another shop but I never knew that another shop existed anyways) and thus I went for it. it comes with the multi function and what looks like fuzzy logic/micom to me and that's good enough.

also works as a steamer and a slow cooker ^_^v

I like it :D

Knocked out Sherman used as a shelter by German troops at War & Peace 2010

A highly ingenious combination of high and low tech - a large wood fire heats the water in the pipes, turning it into steam, which is then piped through a series of tubes and valves (as shown) into massive vats for steaming of rice. Its more effective than cooking in water.

Importantly, the starch all falls out of the bottom of the rice through a sieve (which you can just make out in blue, white and red) so this process produces some of the most fluffy rice imaginable, and on a massive scale.

This is my version of a vegweb recipe, and it proved very tasty (if a little salty). I've reduced the salt accordingly below.

The stew:

1 pound extra-firm tofu, frozen and thawed*

1 large onion, chopped

4 cups vegetable broth (homemade is best)

3 T vegan Worcestershire sauce

1 T tamari or soy sauce

2+ cloves (to taste) garlic, minced

2 carrots, peeled and chopped

2 parsnips, peeled and chopped

3 large red potatoes, peeled and chopped

6+ mushrooms, stems removed, chopped

1 tomato, diced

1 cube fake-beef bouillon (where 1 cube makes 2 cups broth)

salt (or Braggs) to taste

1 tsp each freshly-ground pepper

1 tsp basil

3 T Earth Balance (i.e., vegan margarine)

5 T cornstarch, mixed with stock until smooth

Heat oven to 200F.

Cut the thawed tofu into 1/2" to 1" slices, wrap them in a towel or paper towels, and press to remove as much water as possible.

Cut the tofu slices againt to form cubes, and bake on an ungreased cookie sheet while chopping the vegetables. Check and stir frequently. You want an almost crouton-like texture -- dry but not crunchy.

Place all ingredients into your slowcooker, stir well, and cook on Low for 8 to 10 hours. Add the cornstarch mixture, stir until the stew thickens, let sit for another hour (or until all the veggies are cooked through).

Serve with garlic mashed potatoes, or whatever else takes your fancy.

*Freezing the tofu changes its consistency and makes it denser and 'meatier.' The freezing and baking in this recipe means that your tofu won't get soggy and break down during cooking.

Sautéed veal, carrot, french beans, and sweet yellow capsicum (spring onions to come), flavoured with garlic, black pepper, soy sauce (Tamari, Japanese, traditionally brewed, reduced-salt and gluten-free) and kaffir lime leaves, to be served on a bed of steamed Australian-grown japonica rice. Recently home and installed as chief cook and bottle washer.

Once upon a time, there was a rice cooker. It traveled halfway across the world in a big dark box until one day when a person in a red shirt took it out of the box and put it on a shelf. The bright lights and shiny white floor surprised the rice cooker. While it sat on the shelf, it heard undisciplined children cry and scream. Adults passed over the rice cooker to look at the other appliances at the other end of the aisle. Sometimes, it saw teenagers steal CDs.

After a while, another person in a red shirt came along and put an orange sticker with number on the rice cooker. A few days later, there was a new sticker. A young lady came along and looked at the rice cooker. Observing that there was no instruction manual, the young lady was reluctant to buy it. Her mother said, “You could find directions on the internet.” With this thought, the young lady decided to buy the appliance.

When the rice cooker was leaving the store, the new owner was delighted to find that her purchase was 75% off, instead of 50%. The rice cooker was put in a red and white bag while it traveled to its new home.

And the rice cooker lived happily ever after. The end.
