Almost half way done and things are starting to warm up because the bun is starting to move around. Happy Cliché Saturday!
Explored!
One of the more attractive/interesting shop fronts in Downpatrick i think. They sell reconditioned Aga cookers. We used them in 2015 when we got an Everhot cooker delivered from England and needed to find someone who had experience of moving a 450kg cooker into a house!

Here it is! Something I always wanted: - Sindy’s electronic ‘Magic cooker’ customised by me! Full disclosure:- this was actually the later Mego ‘Fashion Candi – SOUNDS O’ COOKIN’ version, which is actually just the re-tooled Marx Sindy oven, as after Marx (Sindy’s USA license) went bankrupt in 1980, they sold all their Sindy merch to Mego, who retooled it all for their Fashion Candi. Since I have the Marx version of Sindy’s kitchen (with the deeper, mellower gold colours) and it is nigh impossible to find the very rare Marx Sindy version of this electronic oven, this version is a way better match to the rest of the kitchen, including the blue and white pots and pans. The pink and rather gaudy SOUNDS O’ COOKIN’ sticker at the front running under the range top was falling off, so I created a yellow Sindy logo sticker to replace that, which is very close to the one on her original oven, but I added the pink Marx logo instead of the original black and white heart, as it is a better match with the colours on the other stickers showing the knobs and buttons, and makes more sense with the Marx kitchen. You can hear the bacon and eggs frying in the pan, the potatoes boiling, the pressure cooker letting off steam, and the kettle whistling (which is quite loud!) After a minute or two, the timer buzzer goes off from the oven below and that stops when you open the oven door, which is when the light goes off. (Sindy’s baking a cake, I see!) You can also manually turn the chicken in the rotisserie at the top, which also has a light that goes on when that door is closed. It is a testament to the quality of the Pedigree/Marx products that most of these still work 40 years later!
I also love the history behind this: - The ‘oursindymuseum.com’ website stated: “These cooking sounds were recorded on a Mrs Mabel Bing’s gas cooker; she was the mother of Peter Bing who worked for Pedigree’s R&D. He spent an evening recording cooking noises in his mother’s kitchen and the tapes were sent to Hong Kong where they were digitised and put onto chips.”
I've got one of those cookers with a glass top and it fascinates me when I turn on a ring and heat appears from underneath the glass!
