Vincent and I have been down the Old Elham Valley Line many times but often get distracted by the woods (fungus hunting) to the left and the Downs to the right, but today we continued on. The line really deteriorates as a walk, but gets really interesting. It is so forgotten about, with branches and tree trucks blocking your way and the ground becomes a little treacherous in places as the drains/ run off channels have become defunct and I ended up on my bum at one stage sliding down a slope where there had been a small land slide. When we got to the back of the Etchinghill gardens it was sad to see that it had been used as a dumping ground over the years for asbestos, old lawn mowers and of course the obligatory cooker.
Abandoned items in Japan is not uncommon, especially in semi-rural areas where the blending of urban living and the rural living can find plenty of well-used conveniences like this Tiger-brand rice cooker. To starboard now is full length bench, cooker & sink to port. Didn't go with a gimbal as last year we only used the cooker when either anchored or hove to. A work in progress, still plenty left to do!
