Despite the fact that my Dad designed the KFC chicken cookers of the 60s and 70s and that we ate test chicken almost every night, he still likes to have it from time to time. So, we stopped for some this morning and ate it on the porch. With sweet tea.

This one is Silit, made in Germany.

I made curry and cooking time was shortened to 1/3! All the veges and meat was so soft!

It changed my life in big way! I love my pressure cooker. Next dish will be meat ball with tomato sauce.

My very first すいはんき(suihannki). For some reason until today I have not been able to remember that word, but today I've been able to. It's small but it's great for me. It makes 3cups of rice, well, 3 cups of uncooked rice. It's just right for me.

Testing variables...students were in charge of the design, controlling variables, and collecting data.

I've been thinking a lot about my family. I dont know, maybe it's the time of year. Whatever the reason, the other day I made a huge pot of beans. Each day I do something new to them, just like my great grandma use to.

Sometimes it was just beans, then beans with rice and then beans with chopped celery and onion (yellow) sauteed in bacon fat from the morning breakfast. Nana wasted nothing. I think my favorite it the one I hated the most as a kid. Beans with fresh chopped garlic and onions. she always used white onions for when she ate beans this way.

So this is my way of remembering my family and all the cool things they use to cook. Foods I hated as a kid, but have come to love in my adult life.

A rusted old gas cooker

People cooked vegetables and eggs in the steam of onsen. They have little odd taste in them, but they are good. Recommended.
