One more quick layout for the cookbook. This one is very clean, very "white". Also based on the first mockup (I don't have that much free time, you know xD)
Delicious recipe from "In a Persian Kitchen" by Maideh Mazda.
Khoreshe Fesenjan - (walnut/pomegranate chicken. lots of work. well worth it.)

2 1/2 pounds chicken fryer; cut up, up to 3
5 tablespoons Shortening
1/2 teaspoon Poultry Seasoning
1 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Pepper
1 large Onion; finely chopped
3 tablespoons Butter
2 tablespoons Tomato Sauce
2 cups Walnuts; finely chopped
3 1/2 cups Water
1 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
2 tablespoons Lemon Juice
1 cup Fresh Pomegranate Juice
1 tablespoon Sugar
Wash and prepare chicken for frying. Saute the chicken in the shortening along with the poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper. Set aside. Saute onion in butter until golden brown. Add tomato sauce and simmer for a few minutes. Add the walnuts. Simmer over medium. heat for 5 minutes. Stir constantly and be careful not to burn walnuts. Add water and remaining seasonings, lemon juice and pomegranate juice. Cover and cook the sauce on low heat for about 35 minutes. Arrange chicken in sauce. Cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes. Serve with steamed rice.

Project 31: Day 1
Today I was transferring some recently successful recipes into my Big Girl Cookbook. Which I LOVE.
And I am looking forward to this project. It's been too long since I've given my camera the attention it deserves and I have missed it. Hopefully this gives me the creative kick in the pants and the motivation to shoot more.

Found these books on eBay (super cheap!)
On the left: Betty Crocker's Picture Cookbook - 5 ring binder edition - copyright 1956. Aside from the BURN ring on the cover and a bit of separation from the spine on the front cover, it's in great shape!

copyright 1956 (2nd edition). Hardcover edition - in excellent condition and even has a few loose pages of handwritten recipes scattered among the pages.
This recipe booklet, "Sego Milk Cookbook", is a wonderful piece of ephemera. It is illustrated and contains fabulous vintage recipes--just like Grandma made!
The softcover booklet was published by the Sego Milk Co. This booklet is 32 pages long. It measures 6.25" (15.9 cm) tall and 8.25" (21 cm) wide. It is in ok vintage condition but appears to be missing the cover.
This nostalgic booklet would make a fabulous collectible or could be put to great use in your scrapbook, collage, altered art, card or mixed media projects.
