"Appeal court upholds ruling deeming Benson competent"

By far the biggest recovery vehicle ever operated by Quicksilver was this enormous Scammell Contractor, possibly an ex-tank transporter. It is a Trackside model and was previously in the livery of BRS Rescue, which was initially changed to BUS Rescue before it was repainted. Q181 VNH proved to be rather thirsty and oversized for the work required of it and was sold after a couple of years to Willverdale Travel.

Contractor crews drive piles for a trestle that serves as a work platform for building new eastbound SR 520 roadway between the Montlake neighborhood and the SR 520 floating bridge. The foaming water around the driven piling is a "bubble curtain" that acts as a noise shield to protect fish from what otherwise could be harmful underwater sound waves.

Growing up in Bristol the sight of another bus chassis and body combination, rather than Bristol/ECW, was often as a result of seeing contractor's vehicles. This former Trent Willowbrook bodied 33-seat A.E.C. "Regal 111", BRC317, built in 1950, passed to contractor Higgs & Hill in 1961 and was seen in Anchor Road, Bristol, on June 11th 1966.

Lumar Contractors "Powerhouse" High Lift Mobile Crane by Louis Marx and Company. This one dates from the mid to late 1960s. I am going to give it a light clean and re-string it but that is all. This is it straight from my parents' attic where it has been for about 40 years so it looks surprisingly good everything considered.

the National Coal Board had a surprisingly large fleet of buses, although miners services were generally provided by private contractors - and were, in fact, the cornerstone of many businesses. This digital representation is based on an actual vehicle, which operated in the North Durham area. The registration indicates that it orginated with Anderson (Economic) of Whitburn. The paint scheme is hardly sympathetic to the lines of the Plaxton body (05-Feb-18).

The contractors of this building, Schwartz and Meurer, also built the Grand Palais and Paris Conservatory in 1904.

Around the turn of the 20th century, Puebla’s architecture and development took on the Porfirian style. Although the city’s urban plan remained intact, new gardens and plazas were created. Many Colonial buildings — stores, homes, convents — were demolished to make way for new mansions that imitated French ones.

The most representative building of the time is arguably the Edificio de la Ciudad de México (2 Norte #6, Centro Histórico). Its iron frame differs so greatly from those typical of Puebla that it inevitably catches the eye of passersby.

Rather than brick and ceramic tile, it features metal, stone, and glass. The building could easily belong on a Parisian street, but thankfully it is in Puebla for visitors and locals to enjoy!

According to the UDLAP’s Capilla del Arte website, the ironwork was imported from France by the firm Schwartz & Meurer for the Lions Hermanos Company, with the intention of emulating the design of La Samaritaine, a popular department store in Paris.

Since its inauguration in 1910 as an upscale department store called La Ciudad de México, the building has served as a symbol of modernism in Puebla. Today the building houses a Vips restaurant (downstairs) and an exhibition space (upstairs).

Today the building main floor hosts a Starbuck Cafe & a Vips restaurant.
