I photographed some of my lawn contracts the last couple of days. I'm pretty happy with how nice my lawns are looking. I am also still learning the settings on my camera so not all the photos took as well as I would have liked but all things in time. :D
VA Hosts Veteran Small Business Conference in New Orleans
Supports Veteran-Owned Businesses and Helps Them Compete for Federal Contracts
The Department of Veterans Affairs will host the upcoming National Veterans Small Business Conference and Expo, Aug.15-18 in New Orleans. It will be the largest nationwide conference of its kind focused on helping Veteran-owned businesses succeed in winning federal contracts. “Veteran-owned businesses provide world class services and expand employment opportunities for some of our Nation’s most highly-trained and motivated men and women,” said Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki. “That is why VA is proud to host this annual conference to help better prepare these veteran-owned businesses to compete and win contracts with the federal government.” The conference, scheduled for the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, will provide Veteran-Owned and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned small businesses of all sizes with an opportunity to learn, network, and market their businesses. The conference will offer a variety of new training sessions on navigating the federal acquisition process, including finance, compliance, business development, marketing, strategy, contract management, human resources, technology, and program management. The conference track sessions will be targeted for a variety of businesses from new business owners just back from theater to well-established Veteran-owned businesses looking to expand opportunities or increase market share. The National Veteran Small Business Conference is open to both government and non-government personnel. I was originally enrolled into the GETTY IMAGES collection as a contributor on April 9th 2012, and when links with FLICKR were terminated in March 2014, I was retained and fortunate enough to be signed up via a second contract, both of which have proved to be successful with sales of my photographs all over the world now handled exclusively by them.
On November 12th 2015 GETTY IMAGES unveiled plans for a new stills upload platform called ESP (Enterprise Submission Platform), to replace the existing 'Moment portal', and on November 13th I was invited to Beta test the new system prior to it being officially rolled out in December. (ESP went live on Tuesday December 15th 2015 and has smoothed out the upload process considerably).
With visits now in excess of 17.043 Million to my FLICKR site, used primarily these days as a fun platform to reach friends and family as I have now sold my professional gear and now take a more leisurely approach to my photographic exploits, I would like to say a huge and heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to FLICKR, GETTY IMAGES and everyone who drops by.

This photograph was taken at 13:57pm on Thursday 19th May 2016 at Barkerville historic town and park, Northern British Columbia, Canada, which features over 125 heritage buildings dating back to the 1860's and named after William 'Billy' Barker, who was one of the first successful Gold diggers of the era. It was declared a National Heritage site of Canada in 1924 and a Provincial Heritage property in 1958, now attracting around 60,000 visitors a year.
This horse was one of six used to pull a stage coach around and through the town (I took a ride for $8 and loved every second), formerly founded by Francis Jones Barnard for his B X Express freighting company which was the main cartage and pasenger service on the Cariboo wagon road.

WORKERS AT WORLDS LARGEST PORK PLANT RATIFY FIRST-EVER UNION CONTRACT
Deal raises Tar Heel workers’ wages and brings up benefits and working conditions to union standards
(TAR HEEL NC)—Five Thousand workers at the world’s largest pork processing plant have their first-ever union contract, after a majority of workers ratified the agreement over a two-day vote. Members of UFCW Local 1208 will join more than 10,000 other Smithfield workers, and more than 240,000 others who work in the meat packing and food processing industry who have a UFCW union contract.
Cedar Fair Entertainment Company has contracted me to photograph and document Carowinds Scarowinds Haunt 2015 opening night.
We fought long and hard to get this agreement, 4 months on strike and many years of negotiating. Well worth the effort!
