Sopranos alumna Drea de Matteo is joining Desperate Housewives this season, and she's bringing a small mob of her own with her — in the form of a husband and a son.
De Matteo has been cast in a series regular role, an ABC rep confirms, ostensibly offsetting the loss of Nicollette Sheridan's Edie, who perished toward the end of Season 5. De Matteo's Bronx-bred Wisteria Lane newcomer arrives in town with a husband and 19-year-old son in tow.
Based on the arrival script for de Matteo's character, she's for certain a fish out of water, having traded the noise and grime of New York City for a serene (ha, little does she know) picket-fenced life on Wisteria Lane.
De Matteo's on-screen family has yet to be cast, but it appears that the son will attempt to strike a spark with one of the neighborhood girls. (Perhaps Gaby's freshly introduced bad-girl niece?) The husband, meanwhile, seems likeable enough — if a bit, um, flirty.
De Matteo's casting was first reported by EW.com's Ausiello.
Desperate Housewives ' Season 6 premieres Sept. 24.
Cadets who meet the qualifications and agree to commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army are recognized in an annual ceremony, honoring their commitment and dedication. Comprised of freshman, sophomores and juniors, the ceremony signifies the beginning of each cadets responsibility to prepare themselves to be officers in the Unites States Army.

Supermarket clerks meet at the Capital Center in Landover MD to take a 3rd vote on a labor contract Sept. 13, 1974.
Over 13,000 Members of Retail Store Employees Union Local 400 (now United Food & Commercial Workers) struck Giant Food, Safeway, A&P, Acme, Food Fair and Grand Union after the rank and file twice rejected a contract negotiated by their union leadership fearing it would not keep pace with inflation.
The union leadership had sought to avert the problems that had occurred the previous year when the meat cutters union staged a strike and were defeated.
The leadership of Local 400 entered into joint bargaining with their sister clerks union in the Baltimore area and were joined by both the Baltimore and Washington meat cutters unions.
When a tentative agreement with the employer group was reached, the other three unions ratified the agreement, significantly weakening any attempt by the Washington local to improve upon it.
As with the meat cutters strike the year before (see Meat cutters Strike Betrayed set), the Teamsters union would not honor picket lines.
International Teamsters President Frank Fitzsimmons had stated that as long as the AFL-CIO was supporting the United Farm Workers boycott (see Farm Workers Safeway Boycott set), he would not support any AFL-CIO union.
With their position deteriorating, a significant number of Local 400 members began crossing picket lines and returning to work. The union called for a third vote on the same offer on September 13 (photo above) and this time the members voted 3628-1772 to accept. The eight day strike had been for naught.
The Capital Center opened shortly before this image was captured and was the onetime home of the Washington Bullets & Capitals. It was demolished Dec. 15, 2002. The town center style shops of the Boulevard at Capital Center stand on the grounds today.
