Looks like today's my last day. The project I was handling is complete. Tomorrow my job search picks up where it left off, and poor Mr. Franck can look forward to our weekday morning "I'm a loser!" "You're *not* a loser." conversations returning.
Anyway. If you're looking to employ an experienced Recruiter or just somebody who is kind of awesome in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, please email me. :)

UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake visits 8-year-old Cut Adelia Nara at home, in Alu Jaya Village on Sabang Island, in Aceh Province. Cut Adelia, who contracted malaria in 2011, was the last child affected by indigenous malaria transmission in Sabang – whose prevalence rates were among the highest in Aceh Province. UNICEF supported the re-establishment of child and maternal health interventions, including an integrated malaria control strategy. Sabang, home to 30,000 residents, is now malaria-free. UNICEF and partners selected the island as the pilot area for a targeted programme that aims to eliminate malaria throughout the country..

From 26 February to 2 March 2014, UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake visited the northern province of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (commonly called Aceh) on Sumatra Island to view first-hand post-tsunami recovery and reconstruction efforts based on the principle of ‘building back better’, as well as disaster risk reduction efforts in the province – which was the area most affected by the devastating 26 December 2004 tsunami. Long-term development continues in the country some nine years after the disaster, which affected nine countries and killed nearly 230,000 people. In Indonesia, an estimated 170,000 people in Aceh Province alone were killed. The tsunami also destroyed infrastructure, schools and health facilities, and caused massive social, economic and environmental destruction. An estimated one-third of all affected were children. The tsunami triggered one of UNICEF’s largest emergency operations, which was funded by a wide variety of donors, including UNICEF National Committees. National Committees contributed US $328 million to the humanitarian response. The Government’s emergency preparedness and disaster risk reduction interventions, supported by UNICEF and other partners, included programmes to strengthen the country’s health system by integrating immunization, antenatal care, malaria control and other health interventions to build the resilience of children and their families. Mr. Lake met with children and families, teachers, health workers and community leaders; and visited schools, health facilities and other UNICEF-supported projects sites in Banda Aceh and on Sabang Island. He also visited memorial sites honouring those killed during the tsunami and met with senior government officials and representatives, local representatives and UNICEF staff during his visit. Mr. Lake was accompanied by Chair of the United States Fund for UNICEF Peter Lamm and Vice-Chair of the Japanese Committee for UNICEF Yoshihisa Togo. Both Committees were among the biggest donors after the tsunami.
Nearly 1,000 registered nurses in Austin, Texas at Ascension's Seton Medical Center participate in a historic one-day strike Tuesday, June 27 to protest the health care giant’s refusal to address its endemic staffing crisis. During contract negotiations, management has dismissed nurses’ solutions for safe staffing protections and nurse recruitment and retention, both critical factors for ensuring patient safety.
Seton Medical Center nurses are striking with 2,000 Ascension nurses in Texas and Kansas represented by National Nurses Organizing Committee/National Nurses United (NNOC/NNU).

BOEING AH-64 APACHE COCKPIT, WEAPONS, AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES TRAINER
The Boeing AH-64 Apache is an advanced attack helicopter used by the United States Army and various foreign militaries. First flown on September 30, 1975 the Apache was conceived by Hughes in response to the US Army request for a replacement for the Bell AH-1 Cobra. The Apache is a two man helicopter that can fly in all weather, and carries a standard weapons load of a 30mm chain gun, AGM-114 Hellfire missiles, 70mm rockets, and AIM-92 stinger missiles. Apaches went into operational service in April 1986. They are currently being used by ten foreign militaries and are built under contract by AugustaWestland for the British Army's Army Air Corp. In 1997 the AH-64D Apache Longbow went into service with upgraded sensors and fire control.
The simulator on display is an Apache Cockpit, Weapons, and Emergency Procedures Trainer (CWEPT) built and used by LSI Inc. in Jacksonville, Florida. LSI builds procedural trainers for various Army helicopters and gives training and technical support to the US Government and foreign militaries. This simulator recreates a typical Apache cockpit for training flight crews on cockpit layout, weapons systems, and how to handle aircraft emergencies. The flight crew is made up of the copilot gunner in the front and the pilot in the rear. Both crewmembers have flying and weapons controls in case the other is incapacitated.
Simulators similar to this one are used at the Western Army National Guard Aviation Training Site (WAATS) at Silverbell Army Heliport in Marana, Arizona. WAATS is a major attack and aero scout training facility for Army National Guard, US Army, and the British Army Apache units. The unique location provides year around good weather, a sparse population, and close access to the Barry M. Goldwater Air Force Range.

Virginia National Guard Soldiers from the Virginia Beach-based 1940th and 1945th Contingency Contracting Teams participate in a six-day, joint, multi-state, contracting exercise Nov. 15, 2013, at Camp Pendleton, Va. The exercise, Vital Pledge, also includes Air and Army Guard personnel in Maine, Minnesota and South Dakota, as well as civilians from the Defense Logistics Agency. In addition to improving the Soldiers’ and Airmen’s familiarity with contracting systems and equipment, the exercise served to help prepare the four Soldiers of the 1945 CCT for their upcoming deployment to Afghanistan in early 2014. After our launching, Reggie (our PLWA peer educator) was interviewed by Mmegi. We were all quite shocked and embarrassed that he told the reporter he contracted AIDS by witchcraft. Now, when you ask Reggie how a person contracts HIV/AIDS, he can rattle off the causes (the real ones) like a seasoned teacher. But, when it comes right down to it, when you ask him how he contracted it, he will tell you by witchcraft. He told me that one day he was driving in a car and smelled something burning and he breathed in something that caused his sickness. He believes that someone did this to him by something made by a traditional doctor. Nata has quite a few traditional healers. Many help people with minor aches and pains using natural herbs. There are other types of traditional doctors that will take your money for assistance with your love life, business prosperity, happiness or simply tell your future. One of my friends recently found a pile of hair on the ground near his front door and we’ve been told that this signifies someone has a love interest in him and wants the affections returned. I’ve been told that those responsible for training Reggie have called him back to Gaborone for additional training. When the peer educator believes he contracted HIV/AIDS from witchcraft, this gives you an idea of just how difficult our job is. What initially has shocked and embarrassed us has turned into an opportunity to educate. It is also giving Reggie an opportunity to get further training and hopefully help him come to a better understanding of this virus. We do believe the reporter misunderstood Reggie when it comes to being raised from the dead. Reggie often talks in parables and we believe he simply meant that AIDS had nearly killed him and now, thanks to ARV’s he has a second life. But beyond all the hype and the witchcraft I often wonder why we ask someone how they contracted HIV. We don’t ask how a person got diabetes, heart disease or TB. Why do we further stigmatize this disease with these questions? Next time Reggie is asked the question, I hope he says “it’s none of your business!”
