CONTINGENCY OPERATING SITE MAREZ, Iraq – Specialist Antwan Robertson, a cannon crewmember assigned to Battery A, 5th Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Advise and Assist Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, performs the push-up event during an Army Physical Fitness Test at Contingency Operating Site Marez, Iraq, Aug. 2, 2011. Robertson, a native of Jacksonville, Fla., completed the APFT as a prerequisite for the battalion’s “Spur Ride”. Cecil Haney, visited the U.S. Army Pacific Contingency Command Post to get a first-hand look at their operations and capabilities, on Fort Shafter, Hawaii, Nov. 7. CCP Soldiers illustrated some of these aspects to Haney via a mobile operations display at the CCP, consisting of a Deployable Rapid Assembly Shelter (DRASH), vehicles, communications equipment and Soldiers, set up as they would be for a forward mission.

CONTINGENCY OPERATING SITE WARRIOR, Iraq – Officers of 4th Battalion, Kurdish Regional Guard Brigade, completed their training with “Bushmasters” Soldiers of Company B, 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 1st Advise and Assist Task Force, 1st Infantry Division, at the KRGB Headquarters in the town of Laylan near Kirkuk, Iraq, Jan. 31, 2011. The officers concluded the training by conducting a simulated clearing operation. The platoon broke down into three squads entering one building at a time as they cleared a training site. The lead squads maintained security as the other squads progressed, stacking on a wall before they entered a building and cleared the rooms.

CONTINGENCY OPERATING SITE MAREZ, Iraq – Iraqi soldiers assigned to 2nd Battalion, 11th Brigade, 3rd Iraqi Army Division, assault their second objective during a battalion live fire exercise at Ghuzlani Warrior Training Center, Feb. 24, 2011. The LFX tested the IA unit’s cumulative skills taught by Soldiers assigned to 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Advise and Assist Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division. Each company secured the objective, using tactics learned during Tadreeb al Shamil, Arabic for All Inclusive Training. The Great Aloha Run is conducted annually in Honolulu to raise awareness for physical fitness and money for charity. Members of the 4-401st Army Field Support Battalion supervised the beginning stages of construction of new maintenance facilities at Kandahar Air Base. The facilities are capable of supporting many missions including maintenance, storage, or living quarters. The new facilities are scheduled to be completed in the next few months and are being built with the help of Afghan workers. The space will provide critical infrastructure to support the logistical and sustainment needs of U.S. and coalition forces.
