The Challenge:
Since 2001, the importance of network contingency planning has unfortunately become more of a reality. When disaster strikes – be it natural disaster or terrorism – networks can be the link that facilitates both human and economic recovery. Medical resources need to be quickly, efficiently deployed to the correct areas; donations and supplies must be delivered to those in need; and commerce should resume normalcy to prevent further hardship. In disaster circumstances, hardwired networks are fragile. Detecting and fixing breaks in the line may require getting into flooded or dangerous areas. Network redundancy may prevent some outages, but if the wires are co-located, both may be disabled by the same circumstance.
Suggested Products:
Tsunami® QB-8200 Series
Tsunami™ MP-8200 Series
Tsunami™ MP-8100 Series
Tsunami® QB-8100 Series
Tsunami™ MP.11Series
Tsunami® QuickBridge®.11 Series
Tsunami® GX800
The Solution:
Wireless solutions are the perfect technology for network contingency planning. Not only are wireless networks costeffective, they offer a safer alternative to redundant buried lines. By diversifying the redundant link, the chances of a single event affecting both is decreased. In the event both the wireless and wired network are disabled, re-establishing wireless connectivity can be accomplished in minutes – as opposed to the days or weeks it could take to repair or replace wire lines. By placing a new wireless unit on or near of an affected building, a breech can be remedied immediately.

"Adventures always start with a plan. And a contingency plan. And lots of coffee.
..and small bottle of whisky. Because even the best laid plans are thrown out of the window when on the road.
It wouldn't be an adventure otherwise, now would it?"
-Me
I took this to be used as a facebook cover for my profile. And to practice a bit.
The story behind this picture and that quote of myself goes like this:
I decided to use my winter holiday to snowshoe around the wilderness of Nuortti, Finnish lapland (the map).
I even planned three different routes with unique starting points, in case I could not reach the point I was most interested in.
As I arrived to the start of the last road, the amount of snow worried me a bit too much. I was traveling alone, in a small car, and I knew there wouldn't be phone reception further ahead. And the last time I had seen someone, was over hour ago, some 60km earlier, driving away. So, I looked at that very map, and decided that I would do better on a other part of the wilderness. So I scrapped my every plan, and drove few hundred kilometers to another place, where I was again stopped by snow, this time 10km from the wilderness hut I was planning to go. But being tired I knew I could not reach it.
In the end, I ended up snowshoeing around Kiilopää once again, and was pretty satisfied with the experience. Even after my car broke down on the way home and I had to spend a night on someones couch at Sodankylä, all the while I had to wait for the info about spare part for the car.
An experience for sure! Just not the one I had planned.
Check on learning.
