Principle of CA is to synthesize information contained in a contingency table (C columns x L rows), by focusing on relative values rather than on raw values, i.e. correspondences between modalities of 2 variables.

CA allows to detect axes by which points (= modalities of qualitative variables) spread the most from the center of inertia. These "synthetic" axes may result of influence of one or several variables or observations.

Thus, by projection of points (observations or variables) on plans defined by these new axes, we have a representative "photograph" of points.

By analogy, imagine someone is trying you to recognize an animal drawn on a paper sheet (that is a camel) but you see only its face shape. You can not conclude if it is a camel or a dromedary, just because angle of analysis is not the most informative. You need a profile image of the animal to conclude with certitude that it is a camel. On the same way, CA calculates new axes (and then plans) able to advise you at the best about repartition of points.

Members of the 688th Rapid Port Opening Element (RPOE), 597th Transportation Brigade, from Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va., participate in a joint exercise called Turbo Distribution 16-2 from March 6 to March 18. The exercise was hosted by U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC), Air Mobility Command (AMC), Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), and involved the 688th RPOE and the Kentucky Air National Guard’s 123rd Airlift Wing’s Contingency Response Group (CRG). The exercise was intended to test the ability of the RPOE and 123rd CRG working together in a joint environment to establish the opening of a forward operating base. The specific scenario had the groups establishing a combat build-up environment – much like Operation Desert Shield. Pictured is Spc. David Brown from the 688th RPOE. Brown was securing cargo onto a specialized Load Handling System. The cargo would then be moved to the forward node storage area. The forward node allows for better In-Transit Visibility (IVT). IVT is the ability to track the identity, status, and location of Department of Defense units, and non-unit cargo (excluding bulk petroleum, oil, and lubricants) and passengers; patients; and personal property from origin to consignee or destination across the range of military operations. Sometimes what we plan doesn't go the way we wanted. Time never waits for us.

That's what happened to me today.

CONTINGENCY OPERATING LOCATION Q-WEST, Iraq — Discarded soda cans and a paint can lie along the western bank of the Tigris River near the Al-Qayyarah pump house Dec. 30. One of the things that impresses Ali Kaif Hussein, manager of the pump house, about U.S. Army forces with whom he works is their cleanliness, he said Dec. 30. “Before the U.S. Soldiers leave, they always clean up the area,” he said through an interpreter. “They do not leave their trash behind, even the cigarette butts. I think this is a very good practice. It keeps away trash and disease and it helps with security, making it harder for insurgents to know their habits,” said Hussein, a former captain in the Iraqi Army.
