It's always good to plan contingency when going out on photographic trips, just incase any primary goals prove impossible. This one evening, I joined friends from Melbourne Photographic Society on a trip to nearby Kegworth with the aim of photographing descending aeroplanes crossing the motorway as they followed their final approach to East Midlands Airport.
Just as we arrived however, we discovered that the planes had been rerouted and would be barely visible from our location. No bother, we'd identified a backup plan - shooting light trails over the motorway. We just had to recompose, adjust camera settings and start capturing long exposures.
