Esteban, the man at the rear, seems to have received the raw end of the deal after losing to Boy Botong in game of rock-paper-scissors. Now he gets to carry the heavier side of the load. What Esteban didn't know was that the boy was ranked No. 2 in the World's Hand Game Competition.

Candid eye contact street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. Enjoying some tunes with a half-smile, I timed the shot for some eye contact on this content and happy young woman as she walked down Buchanan Street. A splash of reflected light on her face helps the image enormously, enjoy!
Heriot Row, Edinburgh
New Town Life
Historical Note:
Heriot Row is a highly prestigious street in central Edinburgh, virtually unchanged since its original construction in 1802. From its inception to the present day in remained a top address in the city and has housed the rich and famous of the city's elite for 200 years
Following the success of Edinburgh's First New Town (from Princes Street to Queen Street) it was proposed to expand the concept northwards onto what was then fairly open land largely owned by the Heriot Trust. The scheme was designed by William Sibbald with the young Robert Reid working mainly on the proportions of the palace type frontages. The project was built by John Paton and David Lind. The two main sections were complete by 1808. The short western section (linking to Darnaway Street then the Moray Estate was slightly later and was executed in 1817 to the design of Thomas Bonnar being built by William & Wallace.
The original concept was for two palace-fronted blocks: Dundas Street to Howe Street; and Howe Street to India Street. The short westmost section was originally planned as part of Darnaway Street and only after construction was it deemed part of Heriot Row.
The original design concept was exceptionally modest: two storey and basement other than the end pavilions and central pavilions, which were set at three storey. Bonnar's west section was all three storeys. In 1864 David Bryce drew up a plan to add a third storey to all the western (central) section, but as this was in mixed ownership not all owners added this. The end result is an irretrievable ragged skyline to the west end of the central section (but the east end of the central section was successfully extended).
The terraces run from Dundas Street to Gloucester Lane, the latter being off the New Town rectangular grid as it is a medieval lane linking Stockbridge to St Cuthbert's Church (which is also of medieval foundation). The lane marks a parish boundary. [Wikipedia]

Caught Catnapping:
Bugsy, my little manxy man and my Big Boy, Georgie having a wee snooze. Now this is companionship & contentment. How about that!
Frodo almost looks like he's smiling, sitting in one of the windows we opened for him so he could look out and enjoy all the backyard activity, some sunshine, and a bit of fresh air.
We can only open the windows during spring and fall when the temperature is "not too hot" and "not too cold" but if Frodo had his way that window would always be open!
On this particular day, I was in the sunroom birdwatching when I heard a squirrel sounding very upset about something. I went to look out the windows where I heard that distress call to see if perhaps a stray cat had wandered into the yard. Finally spotted the squirrel up the tree just a few feet in front of me, and THEN I spotted Frodo in his window, just a few feet to my left. Can't help but wonder if that squirrel was upset about Frodo sunning in the window???
A beautiful autumn day, a faithful dog and a giant chicken, what else do I need? Cherishville maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Tuscan%20Hills/61/171/57
To make a potentially long story very short, we met this very interesting gentleman in a small town while in the Adirondacks. He was kind enough to spend a few minutes chatting with Elie and me, and allowing us to take his picture on his cherished bike.
Content to live life on very simple terms, he was as refreshing as the Adirondack air itself.

the slope leading up to the old boating pond offers great opportunities to get eye level with the ducks - this one looked particularly happy with her lot in life

Here amongst the bluebells
Here amongst the Bluebells…
…the world seems still. Stopped.
And atop this wild cathedra,
I feel stopped, at pause.
Elated, warm, at ease.
The birds sing out a torrent,
Through this ancient vault of trees,
Sunlight pours contentment,
Cloaked in chorus on the breeze.
Nature spreads her joyful play,
Ahead and all around,
Instilling true and total peace,
Through silence cloaked in sound.
A sort of unity with air,
The world so thus enclosed,
Abundant nothingness, deep-filled,
With quiet life distilled.
They nod consent, (the Bluebells!),
To this idle joy; to love.
They shine in quiet piety,
Truth chiming in each bud.
Each silent ring,
(Or whatever other spell they deem to conjure),
Reveals, re-fuels, ignites the soul,
Restores the faith deep under.
With still-stopped warmth in nature’s pause,
Elation wriggles free.
Delicate, stealthy, forceful,
Joy-filled dancing, buoyant peace.
A craving soul, a lovelorn heart,
Finds solace and release.
Am I enjoying myself? I am.
In joy in myself, within myself….
…..amongst the bells of blue?
– I am!
