A visiting Robin to my garden this very sunny and cold January morning and looking rather happy if somewhat rather chubby too. He put a smile on our faces this morning watching him hop about...got us all laughing, so lovely to see a happy birds x
If bears can feel happiness and contentment, this is what it probably looks like sometimes. He certainly appeared content as he sat amongst the salmon scraps all around him, leftovers from his meals while sitting there as the sun rested along with him, low in the sky.
My precious Bella, cuddling her cardboard scratcher. I chose this as her official birthday portrait as she looks so contented.
Her birthday was chosen by the vets who saved her life on 22 June 2021 & estimated that she was 2 years old on that day. I am so grateful that she's mine, thanks entirely to their skill & the care of those who looked after her during her long recovery before she was ready for adoption.
This looked like a favourite little branch to unwind for this female Superb Fairy Wren. A comfy spot.
I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.
OK, let's be honest, how many of you felt like this brown bear yesterday ... after your holiday feast? I know that I did! LOL.
This giant boar was fishing for salmon in the water and subsequently dragged one over to this big river rock or boulder and proceeded to consume it. Guess it got so full and tired that it just plopped right there and took a nap. Who could blame it? I'm sure that the combination of a full tummy, a nice comfortable rock to lay on, and that river water running along its partially submerged body was just too much of a temptation. Like kids, these bears can just fall asleep anywhere! LOL.
I hope that everyone had a great holiday with family and friends. I hope everyone enjoys the extended weekend as well.

An hour well spent this afternoon at one of my favourite sites.
This stone balanced well eventually with it's fine point resting only in a small niche in the wood after lots of failures and re-tries. It then held long enough for me to set up the camera on the tripod and try different shutter speeds and angles whilst I created ripples in the water and floated fallen leaves upstream. Finally I left it standing.

Scar House Reservoir is the second of the three reservoirs in Upper Nidderdale, North Yorkshire, England, the others being Angram Reservoir and Gouthwaite Reservoir. The reservoir took 15 years to build and was completed in 1936

It’s only when I lose myself in someone else
That I find myself, I find myself
It’s only when I lose myself in someone else
That I find myself, I find myself
Something beautiful is happening inside for me
Something sensual, it's full of fire and mystery
I feel hypnotized, I feel paralized
I have found Heaven
There’s a thousand reasons
Why I shouldn't spend my time with you
For every reason not to be here I can think of two
To keep me hanging on
Feeling nothing’s wrong
Inside your Heaven
I can feel the emptiness inside me fade and disappear
There's a feeling of contentment now that you are here
I feel satisfied
I belong inside
Your velvet Heaven
Did I need to sell my soul for pleasure like this?
Did I have to lose control to treasure your kiss?
Did I need to place my heart in the palm of your hand
Before I could even start to understand?
It’s only when I lose myself in someone else
That I find myself, I find myself
It’s only when I lose myself in someone else
That I find my life, I find myself
It’s only when I lose myself in someone else
That I find myself, I find myself...

Three of the Kits wandered off a little ways, and this one decided to stay by the den and relax. Maybe it was his or her turn to be watch guard.

This western Kingbird makes a sweet pose as it rests on the barbed wire, a beautiful bird, will be glad to see them in the Spring, from the archives.

Familiar ground again for me, Melbourne lake with a smashing sunset sky beyond....it was literally like this for a couple of minutes and then gone....had to find at least one quick comp to capture it
ChiMia made some utterly gorgeous high detail but low prim furniture so I had to grab it - the chair detail was so insanely realistic I wanted to touch it, but alas, pixels. You can see the chair out on display at the Engine Room event, together with the fireplace and gothic desk. Also don't ask about the cats. They do what they want.

A young fox enjoys a spot of sun in the shade.
We've had some territory challenges lately between foxes and coyotes around our property. I've always heard that coyotes and foxes don't mix territory. And you may recall that last Spring we had a fox vixen and her pups living not far from the house. However, one recent morning, a fox came running up from our field and crossed the road with a coyote in pursuit. This afternoon, this young fox enjoyed hanging out along our creek, so apparently there has been some sort of compromise, and the foxes have managed to stay close. My friend reminds me that coyotes aren’t much for compromise....perhaps they were simply outfoxed. 😉
