Mid October and Autumn's really beginning to bite. Had some fun with this little vintage Primus stove, making hot chocolate and toasting marshmallows — definitely the best way to stave off the cold!
This sheep and its lamb were sat contentedly in a field on the east side of Denby Dale in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, England
5 days since his dental surgery. He's been active and cuddly and often very busy bathing or cuddling or looking out the window. He's healing well.

Since returning from Cuba and Costa Rica in February I have been laid up and unable to exercise properly. As a result I haven't been able to get out on the hills. I haven't made the best patient and have been chomping at the bit to venture out. Tomorrow I am due a procedure in hospital so hopefully that will enable me to regain my fitness and get out and about in the mountains.
The nearest I have managed to venturing out into the Great Outdoors was a circular hike Shirley and I took from Saltergate to Levisham and back. This picture of Highland Cattle laying in amongst the heather was taken shortly after leaving the car park at Saltergate.

Yes, this lady looked ever so happy with her lot. She wasn't bothered one iota that I was close by pointing a camera straight at her.
The picture was taken on a circular walk from Saltergate which included a visit to the beautiful little village of Levisham where for only the second time this year we indulged in a bar snack. I say bar snack, we ate it outside on the lawn in front of the Horseshoe Inn.

I watch Snowy graze with is herd of girls and calves running around him and see one happy bull. He is so sweet and gentle with them all it surprises me because I never knew a bull could be that way.
He is a pleasure to be around.

The flowering currant is blooming now and I'm just beside myself with joy at photographing the birds enjoying the fantastic spring weather we're finally getting. I've been taking a little flickr break but the photos are starting to pile up. HBW, everybody!
Sometimes we cheat and drive to the park for our walk. Ollie seems to like that better...he gets two things: the always popular walk AND a ride in the Jeep!
Going through pictures recently I noticed that I have very few pictures of some of my favorite old pets. So I've been taking lots of pet shots lately. Hope you don't get tired of Ollie!
