This photo meets the project goal because it has framing and good composition.
To take this photo i took very small flower from the tree and placed on the top of a heart, part of the necklace, i also had very dark background and blurred out the beads of the necklace so the main focus would be the flower and the heart.
The strength of my photo would be the placement and the angle this photo was captured at, the weaknesses of this photo would be the light because i took it inside the house.
January 2012 - Compositional sketches for coursework based upon influences of architecture and structure.
What a fascinating assignment! A la Matisse, I cut out random shapes from an old desktop sketchpad that had all my old spills, scribbles, and paint blobs. I used a small pen-like rotary cutter as scissors are too hard on my thumb/hand. Then I had some old 5 x 7 matboard so I brayered some black acrylic on those. Then I glued...and figuring out which way to orient them, portrait or landscape, was the greatest fun AND challenge. At first I had only single shapes, but then realized I wanted the pieces relational somehow, then the moon idea came.
I just never realized how powerful and evocative shapes were before this exercise. THEY TELL STORIES - but I dare say, different stories for each of us. I feel as though I will be able to tiptoe into some non-objective paintings based on this experiment. Thank you, Leslie!

I used composition in this photo by using the tree branches to help frame the photo and lead your eye to the nest and eggs. I took this photo by using a fake birds nest that was in our house and putting it in a tree in my backyard. something that I could improve in this photo would have been to find a less distracting background and to try to have used more elements and principals in this photo. The principals that I did use are light, texture and emphasis.
I try to put lighting and shapes in one picture.
then I merge night sky on the top of the window to make it look more nice.

Yes, this is the same painting that is shown on page one, but it is tipped another way. There is an indicator on the back of the painting: a larger arrow and a smaller one, showing the primary and secondary way to show the piece. This is the secondary way.

Note the reference to "polymer" in the medium listing under the photo.
We see the word, polymer, on bottles of acrylic media, nowadays. In 1958, there was no 'acrylic' yet. Painters, interested in the new medium bought artist's grade polymer in 5 gallon drums. We mixed color into it in the powder state. I continued to use oil, as well.
Polymer was invented by an artist, associated with the Museum School. At about the same time, a corporation invented it, but the artist got the patent in first.

Taken on the same afternoon as yesterdays shot (http://www.jimmylemon.co.uk/index.php?showimage=116). Again on Edinburgh High Street. Not sure what show this lady was promoting, or wether she was even doing so! As mentioned yesterday it is so hard to get a clear shot of anyone on the High Street, especially with a camera that isn't the easiest to handle in the first place. The bag in the bottom left of the shot bugs me, but cropping it out ruins the composition. I honestly didn't notice the guy on the right when I took this shot, but his t-shirt and the way he seems to transfixed by the ladies legs just seems to make this shot work for me. (I am hoping this shot exports from Lightroom without any additions noise/grain, not quite worked out the perfect settings yet).
Composition created using Adobe Illustrator. The assignment was to design a composition using a minimum of twenty geometric shapes and the word "composition". Creative typography was a requirement. I used the word "composition" in such a way that it would be legible and then used the letters as part of the composition.
