‘Ballymaclinton’
Within this hugely popular form of entertainment Irish ‘villages’ were fairly common, and often extremely successful. The largest and most successful Irish village ever staged was Ballymaclinton, which appeared at the Franco-British Exhibition in London in 1908. The village was complete with a replica of the Blarney Stone, the St Lawrence Gate in Drogheda, a round tower, a Celtic cross and numerous ‘model’ Irish cottages, along with a staff of 150 Irish men and women (though predominantly women) who lived and worked in the village for the six-month duration of the exhibition and gave demonstrations of ‘traditional’ Irish village life.
Ballymaclinton had a very specific combination of sponsors and interests. It was primarily an advertising and marketing tool for McClinton’s Soap, based in Donaghmore, Co. Tyrone. They specialised in producing a high-quality soap, and by the early twentieth century were an internationally recognised luxury brand whose products included Colleen Shampoo, Sheila Soap and Hibernia Shaving Cream (endorsed in advertisements by the bishop of Bath and Wells). Ballymaclinton was also supported by the Women’s National Health Association, under the leadership of Lady Aberdeen, wife of the Irish viceroy, for the purpose of raising funds and awareness for TB treatment and eradication in Ireland. Ballymaclinton was an extremely successful feature of the Franco-British Exhibition, receiving over two million visitors. Accordingly, it reappeared at the 1909 Imperial International Exhibition, the 1910 Japan–British Exhibition and the 1911 Coronation Exhibition, all held at the Shepherd’s Bush venue.

Personality: Paranoid and untrusting, he shifts his Court every couple of days and his face every few minutes. He’s untrusting but upholds his oaths and duties as the ruler of the Anchorage Court
History: Thinking back, Jack has more memories of his time spent in Arcadia than his life before hand. He can recall some things such a concrete buildings that were caved in, a sickly humid heat, shouts of pain and fury. There were flares of gunfire and flashes of light reflected from sharpened metal. He recalled being pressed up against a wall by a window. There came a shattering sound of glass and then a blinding flash.
When the flash faded, he was cast in absolute darkness. It was blacker than anything he’d ever seen before. IT was almost like you could touch, hold and shape the darkness with your bare hands. The shade was suffocating. Then came a figure that’ll haunt his nightmares for the rest of his days. His mind couldn’t wrap around the complex horrific vestige.
The decades that followed taught him true despair. Everything he had was stripped from him. His clothes, possessions, his freedom when he was chained to walls. But that was being treated nicely. When he was locked to the wall, his Keeper came with an assortment of nightmarish tools. Through the pain of it all, Jack could feel his very identity being stripped away. Tools that didn’t leave a visible mark upon his flesh cut into his mind, tearing memories from him. Things he had once known as fact were gone. He couldn’t even recall what his own face looked like. His Keeper would finish this theft be completely scouring Jack of all physical details. Horrifically, he had lost his gender, his face, even his skin color. He became like polished metal, reflecting light and able to act as a mirror.
Chained to the wall, his Keeper would force him to reflect the beast’s visage. Jack was whipped and beat if he couldn’t perfectly match every ghoulish detail. In time, it became second nature to Jack to shift his silvery body and become a living reflection of whatever stood in front of him. He sobbed and gave into sorrow and despair during his long captivity. He couldn’t count days in this place but it felt like an eternity.
Then one day, one of the small house slaves slipped into the Keeper’s bedroom to pilfer a few coins. The slave stepped too close to Jack and instinctively, he shifted forms. The quickness of the change allowed him to drop from the chains before they could constrict and keep him tied. The first thing he did when he was free was murder the slave. Streams of silver poured from his eyes as he choked the thing while whimpering, “thank you….I’ll free you.”
Killing it, he then fled as far as he could from his Keep’s estate. HE didn’t know where hew as going, he stole faces as he ran by to keep himself concealed. HE ran and ran but could hear his keeper’s voice bellowing for him, could hear the baying of the dogs sent to find him. He plowed into the hedge and ran wildly. He never even saw the opening that he fell into. All he remembers is fleeing through the thick hedge and then being dropped face first into a pile of snow in the middle of a city.
While nearly freezing to death, Jack laid in the snow and cold exhausted. He didn’t know what else to do, he just wanted to give up. That’s when he heard a soft voice speaking to him. It was taking pity on him and offered Jack a chance to survive that he didn’t need to be cold or endure the sorrow alone, Winter understood. Since then Jack as fought to survive and proved to be as intense as the season that saved him. For those unprepared for him, they would be frozen stiff. While the people who were prepared for him found that Jack could be pleasant and enjoyable under the right conditions.
Over the decades, he’s risen to power in the Anchorage. He’s made safe places for those on the run to stay and he offers them protection for a price and if they follow his rules. However, anyone who draws too much attention that could alert his Former Keeper, Jack descends upon them with the full furry of Winter itself. During his Reign, he’s left dozens of bodies to be found lifeless and covered in thick jagged ice. An Urban Legend has sprung up around him, the locals call him Coldsnap because his victims regardless of the season ar caked in ice.

All original. She was found in a closet in New England still in her Barbie box and had never been played with. Her hair is very shiny with her original ponytail curl still intact. These are her original earrings. Her body is numbered 44. She still has retained her peachy complexion.

1. The very first Artsy fashionista body which came with the hinged knees (don't mind the new legs or the head, they've been swapped)
...has more of a brown undertone to her caramel complexion

...this is the tone of most Artsy / Nikki fashionistas. In comparison to the original (#1) it has more of an orange undertone.

Josiah Davies was born at Ulverston in 1890 and had been employed as a plate-layer on the railways before his enlistment in the Lancashire Constabulary at Preston on 18 August 1911. He is described at that time as being 5ft 11-and a half inches tall, of fresh complexion, with hazel eyes, dark brown hair, and cuts on his left eye-brow and second finger of his right hand. Initially posted to the Ormskirk Division, he transferred to Wigan Division on 9 July 1912 “at own cost on application to live in a Police Station”. In July 1914 he was given permission to marry Mary Harrison, and did so at All Saints Church, Hindley, on 29 August. Later in 1914 he was allowed to enlist in the Army (Grenadier Guards) under the Police Constables (Naval & Military Service) Act. According to a Short Service Attestation dated 10 October 1915 he was then resident at “White House, North Ashton”, his sons William and John also being born at this location on 28 October 1915 and 3 May 1918 respectively. He returned to the Wigan Division on his release from the Army, briefly residing with his family at 151 Bolton Road before relocating to Ince Sub-Division on promotion to Detective-Sergeant in 1921.
On 25 June 1926, having been on duty at Haydock Park Racecourse, DS Davies and another officer accepted a lift from the Hindley District police surgeon, Dr Nisbet. The car had reached Bryn Gates when Dr Nisbet swerved to avoid a group of children playing in the road and collided with a lamp-post. DS Davies was fatally injured, possibly by a shard of glass from the windscreen entering his skull, and died at Wigan Infirmary later that evening.
At the funeral held at Ince on 30 June 1926 large numbers of DS Davies' former Lancashire Constabulary colleagues turned out to pay their respects, as did offices from Wigan Borough Police and the Railway Police. The Wigan County Police Division was represented by Superintendent Bannister, DI O'Toole, Inspectors Bell and Campbell, and Sergeants Abbott, Barlow, Murray, Pickering, Ashcroft, Wheelwright, Hunt, and Ward. On arrival at Christ Church the cortège was met by Lancashire Chief Constable Sir Philip Lane, Chief Detective-Superintendent Gregson and Preston Division Superintendent Blanchard. According to the 3 July edition of The Wigan Examiner (extract above left),
“The church was crowded with sympathisers, and an impressive service was conducted by the Rev G T Weston (vicar). Mr Leonard Gaunt (Police Court Missioner) read the lesson... The Vicar paid a tribute to the deceased Officer, who, he said, was a worthy member of an honourable profession. He had risen from the ranks, and had a promising career before him. Many times he had gone out of his way to do kindnesses to others, and had unobtrusively given his help in matters connected with the Church and the Recreation Ground. On such an occasion they particularly thought of those who had lost a near relative, and on behalf of all present he extended to the widow his deepest sympathy....”.
The service was followed by interment at Ince Cemetery, the committal rites likewise performed by Rev Weston-
“Beautiful wreaths and floral tributes were received from relatives, friends, the Wigan County Police Division, the Wigan Borough Police, Ince County Police Sub-Division, Liverpool City Police and other Lancashire Police Stations”.

Wife Muriel died 16 September 1987 aged 96 and is buried with husband and son.[5]
OBITUARY
The death occurred suddenly on Monday at his residence, Bristol street, of Mr John Gilmour Irwin, a highly respected citizen of Christchurch. Mr Irwin saw three and a half years’ active service, being wounded in France and invalided to England. Upon recovery he joined the New Zealand Photographic Section, returning to New Zealand in 1920. He then joined the firm of Andrews, Baty, Ltd., and continued with them up to the time of his death.
Until a few years ago he took an active interest in golf, being a member of the Avondale Golf Club, and was also for some years a member of the Christchurch Chess Club. Always of a cheerful nature, he had a wide circle of friends.
In 1929 he married Miss Muriel Wood, daughter of well-known Sumner residents, and he is survived by his widow and a son of six years of age.
A large and representative gathering of citizens attended the funeral, which took place yesterday. The pallbearers from the residence were his brother, Mr J. Wyn Irwin, his brothers-in-law, Mr T. H. Ker and Messrs Wood (three), and Mr S. C. Andrews. At the Bromley Cemetery the pall-bearers were brethren of the Lodge United Forces, of which Mr Irwin was a member. The service was conducted by the Rev. H. O. Hanby, followed by a Masonic service conducted bv Bro. R. F. McKay, W.M., and Bro. S. Clifton Bingham, P.M., and ending with a short service by Mr B. O. Priddis, president of the Returned Soldiers’ Association. and the dropping of poppies into the grave.

VERDICT OF DEATH FROM HEART FAILURE
A verdict of death from heart failure associated with myocarditis was returned in an inquest into the death of John Gilmour Irwin; aged- 51 years, (sic) of 104 Bristol street, concluded yesterday morning before the coroner, Mr E. C. Lewey.
The verdict was in accordance with the, medical evidence of Dr. A. B. Pearson, pathologist at the Christchurch, Public Hospital, who conducted a postrmortem examination. He stated that he learned subsequently that Irwin was a returned soldier. If he had been inoculated in France, witness could not say, in the absence of details, what the effect on the heart was.[8]

Juana was born on 6 Nov 1479 in Toledo, Castile to Isabella of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon, elder sister to Catherine of Aragon (1st wife of Henry VIII).
She had a fair complexion, blue eyes and strawberry blonde fair.
She was a clever and diligent child who excelled academically, as well as with languages and reading.
she took to the refinements of courtly etiquette and enjoyed outdoor activities.
However in 1495 she had started to show signs of skepticism towards the Catholic faith.
This horrified her mother, a woman who had established the Spanish Inquisition so intolerant was she to heretical thought, and a Princess of the Catholic faith could not be seen as a heretic.
There is evident through letters that there was intervention and that Juana was punished using La Cuede (weights strapped to the feet whilst hoisted in the air by a rope strapped to the arms), and a considerable amount of frustration from the priests because she would not confess to heretical thoughts.
In 1496, aged 17, she was betrothed to Philip of Flanders, son of the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I. He was also known as Philip the Handsome.
They were married by proxy at the Palace de Los Vivero. Then in August Juana left from the Port of Laredo for Flanders.
20 Oct 1496 the official marriage took place in Lier.
Between 1498-1507 they had six children.
With the death of her older siblings, in 1502 Juana found herself the heir to the throne of Castile and Leon, being given the title Princess of Asturias.
In Nov 1504, on the death of her mother, Juana became Queen Regent of Castile and Philip King. As a result Ferdinand lost hs monarchical status and was unwilling to accept the situation. His first move was to have coins minted featuring himself with Juana as joint ruler. in retaliation Philip had started doing the same thing.
Then in 1505 Ferdinand the Cortes that Juana's "illness is such that the said Queen Dona Juana our Lady cannot govern."
The Cortes agreed and appointed Ferdinand as Juana's guardian and Governor of Castile and Leon.
Philip was unwilling to accept this threat and in late 1505 the couple traveled Castile.
However, they were shipwrecked off the coast of Devon and ended up staying as a "guest" of Henry VII until April 1506. This would be the last time she would see her sister Catherine.
When they finally arrived back in Coruna, the Castile nobility gave their allegiance to the couple.
Ferdinand and Philip meet and agreed a treaty that would hand rule to Philip so long as he agreed that Juana's "infermieties and sufferings" made her incapable to govern, Ferdinand would deny this the same day and try to shift the blame to Philip. Whoever was responsible (probably both) on 9th July 1506 the Procurators of the Cortes swore allegiance to Juana and Philip together as co-governors.
It did not last long. On 25th Sep 1506 Philip died after being ill for 5 days. The official cause was sited as Typhoid fever, but rumors at the time suggested poison.
Juana was devestated. It was clear she had loved her husband despite his affairs, torments and cruelty. She was also pregnant.
She struggled with the idea of parting with his body and accompanied his coffin all the way from Burgos to Granada - some 600km. It is said she would frequently open the coffin to embrace him).
Meanwhile the region began to fall apart - plaque and famine ravaged the area, and whilst Juana tried to manage on her own she does not seem to have had backing financially or emotionally.
Once the crisis reached its height, in July 1507 Ferdinand arrived back in Castile.
Although Juana made it known she had no wish to hand over government, it was decided by the Cortes that Ferdinand would once again be Governor. She would be Queen in name only.
By 1509 all her loyal servants had been dismissed and had only a small retinue loyal to Ferdinand.
She had been confined to the Palace in Torledo.
In 1516 Ferdinand died a bitter man. Much against his wishes the throne of Aragon would go to Juana and her son Charles.
Nov 1517 Charles and his sister Eleanor visited their mother, where they extracted the required authority for Charles to rule as co-ruler. This did not win her freedom though. Instead she was kept confined in the palace where her daughter attempted to create a household for her.
In 1519 Charles was elected Holy Roman Emperor.
There were plots by various groups to rescue Juana and put her back on the throne, but she refused to co-operate against her son.
This did not benefit her though. Charles, seeing her a risk, had her transferred to the Royal convent where she was kept in solitary confinement.
After that her health declined including her ability to move, and she died on 12 April 1555, aged 75.
She is entombed beside her parents and next to her husband in the Royal Chapel in Granada.
