Soldiers competed for the title of Region 5 Best Warrior May 7-12 at Camp Crowder, Missouri. Soldiers from Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas are competing to determine who will represent Region V at the 2023 National Best Warrior Competition. Participants will test their physical, mental, and psychological limits over a 5-day period. Each day warriors will face vigorous tests including the Army Combat Fitness Test, 12-mile ruck march, obstacle course, and stress shoot, among other events.

Army JROTC Cadets competing in the 2024 JROTC Leadership Bowl found time to explore the National Mall and Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C. on June 18. A highlight for many of the Cadets was watching Tomb Guard Sentinels at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and witnessing the Changing of the Guard. Competing in the Anteaters' home event, the Asics/UCI Invitational, Rex Nelson (UC Irvine) finished eighth among 148 runners with a time of 25:31.5 in the 8K. The Costa Mesa, Calif., native led UC Irvine to a fourth-place finish in the 13-team field.
