Het Bouwhuis (translated The Building House) is a collective project for a large number of organizations in the building branch and construction industry. The design requirements have been directly translated into the three parts of the building: a parking garage as a plinth, eleven office floors in a T-shaped volume on top and, finally, a large 'roof plate' with collective public and meeting facilities. By locating the representative and collective facilities not on the ground floor but on the top layers, a panoramic view of the city, the motorway and the Groene Hart behind it is possible from these spaces. A robust steel construction provides stability and allows a "column-free" cantilever of the top layers. In the building, much attention has been paid to sustainability, partly due to the double glass skin and heat / cold storage in the soil.
Characteristic for the design is the double skin facade. This resulted in many transparent facades. The double skin principal is realized by applying only hardened glass at a distance of about 1 meter from the thermal facade of the building. This creates an enlarged and isolated cavity. At the second floor, this cavity is opened over the entire length. On the eleventh floor, a gap of 200 mm has been created over the entire length of the facade. Exterior sun protection has been installed in the cavity of the double skin facade.
Technical stuff
This is a daytime long exposure photo taken at 100ISO, f22 (just to prolong the exposure time), 12 secs and with 12.6 mils on the camera. I used a 10 stop ND filter. Due to the bright light I still could go beyond 12 secs. I haven’t found a good quality 16 stop ND filter for 72mm yet. Plus had no stacking compatibility at that time – although I now also have 6 stop 72mm filter.
Post-production was executed solely with Lightroom CC. I used several (inverted) radial filters, adjustment brushes and graduated filters. The latter addresses primarily the toning of the sky and clouds. Finally, I added some copyright signs (in PS, as it is still not possible to position a watermark anywhere you want like in PS – by simply adding text). The latter is, alas, there to stay due to the fact that my photos were frequently copied. So, don't bother commenting on that.

Ahead of Galileo satellites like this one going to space, they are switched on as if already operating there within ESA’s Maxwell EMC Facility. This test procedure is a check of the satellite’s ‘electromagnetic compatibility’, with all its systems running together to detect any harmful interference between them.
Once Maxwell's main door is sealed, its metal walls form a ‘Faraday Cage’, screening out external electromagnetic signals. The ‘anechoic’ foam pyramids covering its interior absorb internal signals – as well as sound – to prevent any reflection, mimicking the infinite void of space for satellite testing.
Seen here sheathed in multi-layer insulation, the 2.5m by 1.2 m by 1.1 m satellite’s main 1.4-m diameter antenna transmits L-band navigation signals down to Earth. To its left is the hexagonal search and rescue antenna that picks up distress signals and relays them to local emergency services, contributing to the saving of more than 2000 lives annually.
To the bottom right of the navigation antenna are a pair of infrared ‘Earth sensors’ whose task is to keep the navigation permanently locked onto Earth by homing in on the contrast between the heat of Earth’s atmosphere and the cold of deep space. Above them is the laser retro-reflector: lasers are shone up to this from the stations of the International Laser Ranging Service to perform an independent check of the satellite’s orbital position down to an accuracy of less than a centimetre, as a backup of standard radio ranging.
Above that is the circular C-band antenna which every 45 minutes or so receives the navigation messages from the Galileo ground segment. These signals incorporate corrections for slight clock errors, orbital drift or satellite malfunctions that user receivers can process as they perform positioning fixes, helping ensure Galileo remains the world’s most accurate satellite navigation system, delivering metre-scale positioning to users around the globe.
What resembles a white baton on the end of the satellite is its S-band antenna, employed to return ‘housekeeping’ telemetry data to mission control on Earth and pick up telecommands in turn to operate the satellite platform and payload – as well as performing the ranging used to estimate the satellite’s position in space.
The Maxwell EMC Facility is part of the ESTEC Test Centre in ESA’s technical heart in Noordwijk, the Netherlands – Europe’s largest satellite testing facility, which has flight-tested all but two of the 28 Galileo satellites already in orbit, and is currently doing the same for the next 10 satellites planned to join the constellation.

ESA’s Euclid mission is undergoing the final test before launch in July 2023.
Here it is standing in a special room in the Thales Alenia Space test facilities in Cannes, France, where it successfully underwent electromagnetic compatibility testing.
This kind of testing is routine for spacecraft. All electronics emit some form of electromagnetic waves that can cause interference with other devices. Think of the buzz that speakers give out right before an incoming call on a mobile phone. Spacecraft electronics can cause similar interference, but out in space such interference can have disastrous consequences, so all systems must be checked before launch.
The large test chamber at TAS, called the Compact Antenna Test Range, simulates the electromagnetic environment of deep space, being lined with cones that absorb radio signals and prevent reflections. To avoid TV or radio interference, the walls of the chamber form a steel ‘Faraday cage’, impenetrable to electromagnetic signals from the outside world.
In this radiation-free environment, the team studied the radio signals and electrical noise coming from the various systems on the spacecraft and checked whether they caused any electromagnetic interference with each other.
ESA's Euclid mission is designed to explore the composition and evolution of the dark Universe. The space telescope will create a great map of the large-scale structure of the Universe across space and time by observing billions of galaxies out to 10 billion light-years, across more than a third of the sky. Euclid will explore how the Universe has expanded and how structure has formed over cosmic history, revealing more about the role of gravity and the nature of dark energy and dark matter.
Euclid is a fully European mission, built and operated by ESA, with contributions from NASA. The Euclid Consortium – consisting of more than 2000 scientists from 300 institutes in 13 European countries, the US, Canada and Japan – provided the scientific instruments and scientific data analysis. ESA selected Thales Alenia Space as prime contractor for the construction of the satellite and its Service Module, with Airbus Defence and Space chosen to develop the Payload Module, including the telescope. NASA provided the near-infrared detectors of the NISP instrument.

A pivotal milestone in railship development, the Storm was among the first series of double-gauge rail vessels designed specifically to form a train.
Previous double-gauge vessels were less structurally complex and operated individually. Since these retronymically-termed “rigid” shoulder-less railships were more constrained in their length, (and therefore their volume) by track geometry, the capacity taken up by their internal engines and fuel storage was particularly burdensome.
The improved efficiency of dedicated locomotives within a double-gauge train permitted any non-motive vessel to allocate more of its capacity to weaponry, often resulting in an immense turret spanning nearly its entire beam. The addition of swiveling shoulders between the trucks and body allowed these vessels to grow to sizes far beyond those of rigids.
The first non-rigid double-gauge vessels saw action in the latter stage of the Great Steam War, but remained effective long into the era of internal combustion.

Hey everyone! I'm here to announce my second solo product! the Biker Thug pants and boots! It's based on part of the outfit worn by Kaneda in the classic Akira movie and manga series.
I put a lot of work into making this one of my most customizable products so far, with two separated HUDs, one for the pants and the other for the boots. You'll be able to pick between 9 colors for 7 separated parts of the pants and 9 of the boots, allowing for over 5,700 different combinations. You'll also be able to choose between 6 different decals for the pants.
As always feel free to edit it as you see fit and you have my blessing to find your own way to get the textures with a third-party software to modify them. You're also allowed to give away and/or sell textures you edit to others. The only thing I ask is to not give away my original files.

One of three wheels on an inoperative mobile webcam which looks like some kind of lunar rover straight out of a sci-fi movie. I bought the device just for the heck of it around 2010 or so; a bad power supply pretty much rendered the gadget DOA out of the box. Securing a replacement supply was frustrating and ultimately fruitless. Between the aged battery, the pitiful (by today's standards) 640x480 (VGA) resolution camera, and probably no compatibility with anything nowadays, the unit is not worth reviving at this point.
Oh, I should mention, the rover was sold as a refurbished unit. The seller was unable to follow through a remedy because of the sheer volume of defective supplies.
