On May 1, 2023, the Community Collaborative class under the direction of Professor Ananya Roy joined with the Promise Institute to host the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and Soledad GarcÃa Muñoz, special rapporteur on economic, social, cultural and environmental rights. During a hearing that included the presentation of research, several presenters talked about their lived experiences at homeless encampments, including one at Echo Park Lake that had been forcibly cleared by law enforcement two years earlier. CU Community adopted Ms. Roy's 2nd grade class at Boyd and threw them a Christmas party, inclusive of personalized gifts, Santa & Mrs. Claus and Cuccu bird.

The wooden building of the former Tapanila Railway Station has been moved ca. 10 km here to Pikku-Huopalahti and is now used as a community center for the neighbourhood.
They worked through wind and rain.

Guayama, PR- Soldiers assigned to the 475th Eng. Co., US Army Reserve-Puerto Rico, are currently tearing down over 10 condemned structures and cleaning empty lots in the center of the southern city, in another effort to help the community of Puerto Rico.
The troops, many of whom have recently returned from the combat zone in Afghanistan, are applying their technical skills, while working in direct coordination with local authorities to eliminate safety hazards to the local community.
The garden at 1630 N. Richmond Ave. features organic farming, a rainwater collection system, compost heaps and works of art. NOTE: Unfortunately, the property was sold and two nondescript residences were constructed on the site in 2014.

For this project, One Armenia is working with us in order to crowdfund for the construction of 4 greenhouses in Tavush region, one of them is going to be in Ditavan Village. We visited the community to see what kind of work the women do now and how the new greenhouses will provide them with new jobs and the opportunity of a salaried income.
