A wonderful community celebration and rain garden planting at Armand Grant Park! Park Pride is proud to have supported the installation of the rain garden by Integrated Land Design that will help to manage stormwater runoff and clean the water before it returns to the South Fork of Peachtree Creek! Congratulations to the Friends of Armand Park and the South Fork Conservancy for this wonderful new park amenity. Photos courtesy of Marcia Brandes with Georgia Nature Photographers Association.

The garden at 1630 N. Richmond Ave. features organic farming, a rainwater collection system, compost heaps and works of art. NOTE: Unfortunately, the property was sold and two nondescript residences were constructed on the site in 2014.

Last week representatives from Carl Sandburg College visited with first-graders at Steele Elementary School to assist alumna first-grade teacher and alumna Faviana Moreno '16 with a lesson. The topic asked: "what is a community," and went through examples establishing the importance of community and how a community is made up of not only places to go and things to do, but that it takes people that help a community function. We enjoyed the chance to visit with so many students and also be one of the first groups to utilize the beautiful outdoor courtyard area!
