Development in Philly is out of control, worsening conditions for working class people & the environment. Hundreds of community activists took to the streets to set the tone for Philly's 2023 election: anyone running for mayor or city council better have policy solutions for ensuring long-term, working class residents have a place in this city and that Philly is truly tackling and prepared for the climate crisis.
The march was organized by community groups fighting for land justice across our city, including Philly Thrive, Sunrise Movement, VietLead, Save UCTownhomes, Save the Meadows, Cobbs Creek EJ, and more!
International students, new to the University of Washington, their families and friends attend a community Barbeque in Gasworks Park, Seattle on Friday, September 16th, 2011. The Foundation for International Understanding through Students (FIUTS) organized the event as part of International Orientation Week at the UW.
"In the ultimate of transformation, a volunteer works diligently on preparing a wall for painting inside the former Ventura County jail facility in Ojai. During the United Way Day of Caring, hundreds of community volunteers descending on the Ojai jail facility to assist in its remodel into a full community resource center in conjunction with Help of Ojai."

We were at Nottingham Racecourse for Community Day 2016! Congratulation's to Sammy our Dancing Hamster too who came last in the mascot race.
Community Day was the culmination of BAMPFA's Grand Opening Week. The museum doors were thrown open for twelve hours to mark this historic occasion. Visitors got a first look at our inaugural exhibition, Architecture of Life. The day included DJs spinning records, dance performanes, a weaving workshop, and other impromptu happenings throughout the building, organized by artist David Wilson. Photo: Marisa Darabi
The Community Cycling Center depends on volunteers to help them help others.
Tonight the volunteers got some recognition for their efforts. Food, and prizes, and good conversation was enjoyed by all.
So, get out there! VOLUNTEER!
Community college students were given a tour of the law library and conducted legal research for there Legal Research and Writing I class. The students were introduced to the Federal Reporters and given citations which they researched and then prepared legal briefs for. As one of the students said this is the “real thing” !!
