More than 300 Atlanta business and community leaders fleeted to various Atlanta Public Schools (APS) to participate in Project For A Day on November 6, 2014. Professionals from IBM, Gas South, The Zeist Foundation, United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta, Junior Achievement, Project GRAD Atlanta, the Anti-Deformation league and other organizations spent the morning participating in hands-on, student-focused activities at APS schools. Afterward, the business and community leaders were among an audience of approximately 600, including APS principals, to convene at the Omni Hotel for the Atlanta Partners for Education Celebratory Debrief Luncheon.

Community Day was the culmination of BAMPFA's Grand Opening Week. The museum doors were thrown open for twelve hours to mark this historic occasion. Visitors got a first look at our inaugural exhibition, Architecture of Life. Council members and community leaders announced an agreement at Iglesias Gardens on June 20 that Philadelphia city government would buy back over 90 community gardens and green spaces currently held by bank liens. City Councilmembers Kendra Brooks, Darrell L. Clarke, Jamie Gauthier and Quetcy M. Lozada spoke at the event in front of dozens of community garden activists.
According to the Philly Voice (tinyurl.com/4hv42b4p), a failed effort to raise money for the School District of Philadelphia in 1997 resulted in city officials selling off 30,000 city-owned land parcels to U.S. Bank. Though it did not solve the funding problem for the District, the properties have been held by bank liens for more than two decades and are currently being sold off individually at sheriff's sales.
Many of the lots, which have sat dormant and neglected for years, were taken up by community residents who provide upkeep and maintenance. As the communities do not own the properties, they are often left with limited notification if the land is being sold at a sheriff's sale.
The agreement which costs the city $1 million would allow the city to reacquire some of the remaining properties and work with City Council and other neighborhood stakeholders to return the plots of land to the communities they're located in.

Artist Sergio demonstrates screenprinting at the January 21, 2011 opening of the La Pintoresca Teen Education Center located at 1415 N Raymond Ave in the Madison Neighborhood of Pasadena. The Armory provides various free workshops for teens at this location.

Development in Philly is out of control, worsening conditions for working class people & the environment. Hundreds of community activists took to the streets to set the tone for Philly's 2023 election: anyone running for mayor or city council better have policy solutions for ensuring long-term, working class residents have a place in this city and that Philly is truly tackling and prepared for the climate crisis.
The march was organized by community groups fighting for land justice across our city, including Philly Thrive, Sunrise Movement, VietLead, Save UCTownhomes, Save the Meadows, Cobbs Creek EJ, and more!
The epic 7th annual Community Bocce Tournament presented by Piedmont Health and organized by the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commercensaw Chris Derby, Baguettaboutit partner, and Jon Reda, manager of The UPS Store in Meadowmont, top 50 teams to become the 2013 champions and grab the coveted bocce trophy on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at The Farm at UNC-Chapel.

The community group the Darkwood Crew held its first “Walk about a bit” for kids and adults alike. The first 1k group lead by Karen and the second 3k group where lead by Demi, who where both from the Pals of the Privies community group. While I fallowed Terry from the Darkwood crew whose 5K walk ringed Ferguslie park while trying to avoid the main roads for safety and where I shoot these photos before heading back to the green. Here we had lunch, played bingo as the kids bounced around in the inflatable castles and all had a great time…
