St. Luke's UM Church purchased items to make gift bags for every person who entered the Mission on June 17, 2015. Ivy Tech Nursing Students helped put the bags together and passed them out that day. Nurse Humdinger (clown) came and put a smile on everyone's face! Balloons were provided by A Bloom for all Seasons. Cakes were provided by Create A Cake and Kroger. Scoops donated two huge tubs of ice cream. Thank you to everyone who made this day special.
To celebrate at the culmination of our opening week events, we hosted our Community Open House on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, from noon to 2:30 p.m. Groups of a cappella singers, dancers, and musicians filled the center as we opened up our spaces and invited the public to poke around. Elise Witt led An Impromptu Glorious Chorus at the end of the open house and invited everyone to join in. After the open house, we welcomed our second performers, the conductorless ensemble Sphinx Virtuosi.

Vicenza Military Community celebrated the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with an observance Jan. 17 at the Golden Lion on Caserma Ederle.
Vicenza Middle School Principal Stephanie M. El Sayed was guest speaker for the event organized by the Vicenza Military Equal Opportunity Office. She delivered remarks after the Vicenza Gospel Choir performance.
U.S. Army Africa Commander Brig. Gen. Eugene J. LeBoeuf and Command Sgt. Maj. Jeremiah Inman, USARAF command sergeant major, congratulated fifth-graders Lorenzo Souza, Angelina Ramirez, and Jackson Brock, respectively placed first, second and third in the MLK Essay Contest.
A cake-cutting ceremony concluded the event.

In August 2013, HD launched the inter-communal dialogue process (HD’s Jos Forum) with an official ceremony attended by members of eight communities, Federal and State Government officials, religious leaders as well as representatives from women’s and youth groups, business community and civil society.
To date, HD has carried out eight dialogue sessions on various issues, including two interim sessions to deal with emerging tensions in the countryside around Jos. The issues covered in these sessions have included: trust building and religious tolerance, rebuilding places of worship, burial grounds and issues relating to youths, governance issues and access to services, traditional rulership and the renaming of places, land annexation, displacement of people and insecurity in the countryside, issues of indigeneship, impunity, reparations and compensation, securing of lives and property and public apologies. Following each dialogue session, the Jos Forum developed and endorsed recommendations on the issues discussed. These have ultimately formed the basis of follow-up actions by the Government, the communities, and civil society and development actors. In addition, the women through their own steering committee presented a Declaration of Peace to the Jos Forum, demonstrating their efforts towards ensuring the success of the dialogue process. The declaration was received by the Jos Forum with overwhelming enthusiasm. Likewise the idea was welcomed to include the women’s suggestions and additions in the Jos Forum’s final recommendations.
