Saturday night in Sheffield. We tried Popworld thinking it would be more our sort of music - 80s and cheese - and they have a light-up dance floor.

It was ok but it didn't really grab us so we decided to go back to Soyo, the club we had been to the previous night.

Almost back at the hotel.

It's been a little while since I posted anything on here, and it is so easy to suddenly find yourself with a huge backlog of pictures that need sorting, so I thought I had best get started again.

Quite a few pictures from before Christmas here. A cold night outside so I wore my lovely warm woolly purple dress.

Again, I wasn't going to celebrate Oliver's Birthday as I wasn't sure May 4th was his real birth date but I felt weird knowing a date and not doing anything for him. Oliver wasn't totally keen on the Oxbow Timothy Treats. I'll keep persisting since bunnies can be picky one day and love it the next but I feel bad getting him something that he doesn't like so I'm going to buy him a new present soon. Also, Luna wasn't really up for being in photos today. I guess the 'queen' didn't like that the day wasn't all about her. So here is a whole collage of Oliver celebrating his special day. :)

Found this at an estate sale.

The owners had passed away. It's always so interesting to see people's belongings.

I think the woman who owned this beauty suitcase was such an interesting person :)

The first Friday of the month usually means a weekend in Leeds and March was no different. One of the best nights out in ages!

We were back in Nottingham for the comedy festival.

First gig on the Friday was in a very unusual venue which is also a bar and a second hand shop! We saw A Comedy Tapas - multiple comedians with just a few minutes each. We have seen this before, and knew a couple of the comedians who recognised us.

Then on to anothe unusual venue - the Canal House which actually has a canal boat in the venue! Here we saw Ian Sirius Peskett - a comedian we had bumoed into outsied the Bill Bailey gig a couple of months previosuly. We went to see his fantastic show.

The a final drink in the Canal House before heading back to the hotel.

At the Canal House.

A bit of a smorgasbord of photos to finish the April collection off.

First up, me in a bathrobe. I'm quite comfortable these days with how I look most of the time. Nowadays, however I am presenting, I really only see me in the mirror any more, which is a wonderful mental place to be.

They are coming around fast now! Time for another visit the the gender clinic in Leeds, for my second voice coaching session, and also for another consultation with my lead professional, to make sure things are all going well. Which they are, I'm very happy to report.

Waiting for my voice coaching session.

Surgery day! I was third in so had to wait until around midday and was done and back in my room for 2.15!

Amaxzingly, no pain. Obviously I was under general anaesthetic and I also had an epidural, but after waking up I only had paracetamol and ibuprofen.

Morning selfies before the surgery.

Michel Fokine, choreographer for many Diaghilev ballets, commented on Nijinsky's "lack of masculinity which made him unfit for certain roles." Yet, he managed to create many outstanding roles for Nijinsky that capitalized on his androgyny, not to mention his capacity for violence.

Michel Fokine did the choreography for Le Spectre de la Rose and Tamara Karsavina and Vaslav Nijinsky appeared in the leading roles as the young girl and the spirit of the rose when the ballet was first performed at the Theatre de Monte Carlo on April 19, 1911. Leon Bakst designed the scenery and costumes and Carl Maria Weber supplied the music. The story, based on a poem by Theophile Gautier, is that of a young girl who is so fatigued after returning from her first ball that she falls asleep in a chair while holding a rose. She dreams of dancing with the rose which appears as a handsome young man. She awakens from her dream when he disappears through the window but she remains under his spell.

Youtube has a wonderful performance of the ballet taped at the Met on May 13, 1984. For this version Patrick Dupond is the rose and silent movie star Lillian Gish, who personally witnessed Nijinsky in the role, plays the dreaming girl.

Quite a lot of photos from this November evening! Experimenting with a few camera angles so here are the ones which (in my opinion) worked.
