There are magazines and news sources for the general public, and the same has always been true for the people who operate buses. The Museum of Transport Greater Manchester has an extensive archive collection and documents that is used as the source for this Flickr feed, and we have a very large collection of trade magazines and bulletins dating back to the nineteenth century.
These magazines have always been read by owners and managers of truck and bus companies, and therefore they have always included advertisements for complete vehicles, spare parts such as tyres, ancillary equipment such as washing equipment, and parts that one might specify as part of a vehicle order.
This advert dates from the early 1950s and advertises a hard-wearing material for seating. We will note without further comment that the material's brand name is better known today for a very different impermeable product!

I so loved that black dress that I wore on Sunday night in Lincoln last month, that I decided to have another night wearing it. And it won#t be the last - I can see this one becoming a firm favourite.

The last of the August photos.
My lovely friend Fiona came down to Hull for a couple of days with her gorgeous spriner spaniel Chester. Awww! I was in doggy heaven all weekend - I absolutely adore dogs!

After our enormous dinner, we also went for a chippy tea on the same day - we certainly ate well! My local chippy is one of the best in Hull - Dundee Fisheries - and we had been planning to go there all glammed up for a laugh for a while. The opportunity finally presented itself, ha ha!
After that, we went into town to Monroe's cocktail bar where we met our friend Alexis. From there we went on to The Star.
Part way through a crazy social night in the Star (our booth was packed with people all night!) Jim, the owner, brought us over a huge cocktail dispenser full of cocktail - for free! He thought it would be good advertising, ha ha!
Of course, I couldn't even help with it because I don't drink. Gemma did her best, and we were giving it away too, but by the time we left there was still about half of it left, LOL!
This was it - the beast that arrived for us coutesy of Jim, the owner of The Star, ha ha!

First off to all those that visit my photostream and comment on my pictures... THANK YOU... I really appreciate the time you take to view and comment on my photos... and I look forward to your comments and suggestions....
Now to the picture at hand... this past August I had the wonderful opportunity to come across a bull moose that was feeding on the plants that were growing on the bottom of a small pond... this bull moose paid no attention to me and another photographer that were there as we snapped away like crazy for about 10 minutes while he fed and moved around the pond... he eventually left as more people stopped to see this rare and awesome sight....
