The first two of a larger series. I became totally enchanted by this light cast by the stained glass window.

Architects of Air’s latest luminarium Mirazozo is a dazzling maze of winding paths and soaring domes. The large-scale inflatable sculpture, which comes to nearly 1200m², will take over the Sydney Opera House Forecourt from January 3 to 27, 2011.
Constructed of translucent vinyl, the multi-sensory space welcomes and inspires everyone who journeys inside. Islamic art and architecture, Archimedean solids and Gothic cathedrals meld together to form an awe-inspiring monument to the unexpected beauty of colour and light.
Built in 2010 and when erected measuring 60m x 18m by 10m, Mirazozo makes the most extensive use of the “illuminated seam” first explored in Architects of Air’s previous work, Amococo. The internal pattern of neon-lit seams creates a meditative configuration, where perception and reality can shift. It is the same effect created by the geometric design of Islamic art and architecture.
Visitors receive a map and are invited to remove their shoes before passing through the airlock. Once inside they can wander freely or just lie back and enjoy the structure’s ambience. Featuring several ‘dodecadomes’ (domes based on adaptations of the dodecahedron) and a large central dome – the largest open space structure that Architects of Air have ever built – many people find the luminaria a place for rest or meditation, where the environment can be both stimulating and calming at the same time.
The radiance of the daylight shining through the luminarium’s coloured PVC is surprisingly bright and directly impacts the senses. Through labyrinthine tunnels and cavernous domes, visitors are immersed in a medium of saturated and subtle hues. Vivid reflections of liquid colour spill across curved walls transforming faces and clothing.
No two visits are alike: visitors are excited to discover how different colours blend or resonate, and how the atmosphere inside alters according to the changing weather and light outside. The experience is also affected by how the public inhabit the luminarium. Visitors have likened being inside the luminarium to being in a futuristic space station or the human body.
A striking pose I thought. I didn't ask him to pose, he just seemed to oblige :) There's a clearer shot of him nextdoor.
A selection of London scenes from yesterday 23/01/2019
a very chilly day.. but with Dave showing us so many exciting places you soon forgot the cold...until we stopped!
even found a Wagtail there...so had to add!!!
I was in Trafalgar Square and saw these two guys spinning some lights around and with some skill as well…I decided to go have a closer look…when I got there, I noticed that they were actually using light Poi's.
I asked them would they mind posing for a picture and both were happy too…we stood just outside The National Gallery and decided to take a picture of them spinning the light poi's…I was not able to take many shots as the batteries in my flash gun had run out, I did have spares but for some reason it would not charge.
I was not really happy with the picture I took but was very great for the two boys for helping out.
I used LR to take away some of the colour and enhance some of the remaining colours...I blurred his face, as I did not know him and did not know whether he would want his face on the internet, but at the same time I think it adds something to it.
I like the fact that you can see one of his arms as normal and the other arm is a shadow…

Another chance to play with lights and the tree before the 6th!
The bright and colourful lighting in the Lecture Theatre / Conference Room of the British Library at King's Cross.
(I went there for a talk which was one of the events forming part of the October 2015 Bloomsbury Festival)
I have been putting this modest Christmas tree up for about twenty years, there's a motor in the base which causes the lights to change colour. It's almost my only form of Christmas decoration.

Some years, the annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count for the town of Nanton is held late in December. Other years, it ends up being held early January. The Count that took place on 3 January 2016, was part of the 2015 Bird Count.
As you can see, the weather was bright and sunny for us this day. What you can't see was that it was very cold for the first part of the day, then warming up to a more pleasant cold later on! I think it was -21C when we started. Two years ago, on the trip in January (for the 2013 Count), on the hour-long drive south of Calgary, we hit -34C (-29.2F)!!!!! Again, this year, there was no or very little wind, which makes all the difference. Also, the only walking we had to do was when we called in at various farms.
We (my group of four friends and myself, travelling in two cars) drove through such beautiful scenery when we were covering the SW quadrant of the Christmas Bird Count circle that centered on the town of Nanton, Alberta. A landscape over which the occasional Golden Eagle soars (my small group saw 5!) and in which some years - but definitely not on this day! - numerous Sharp-tailed Grouse wander on the ground or perch in trees. I absolutely love this area SW of Nanton! A few of these backroads are extremely steep and almost look vertical when seen from a distance. Some years, the whole area is white, covered in deep snow, so that you can't tell where the roadside ends and the ditch begins. This Count, it wasn't too bad, thank goodness, though I might have felt differently if I had been one of the two drivers for our group!
Around lunch time, we returned to the Truch family's place as we were very nearby, and ate our lunch in the warmth of their cosy home.
After driving (being driven, for me, which is always pure luxury) the backroads from about 8:00 a.m. till around 3:30 p.m., we returned to the wonderful home of the Truch family. Not only do Bill and Leah Truch and their son, Mike, always welcome everyone with open arms, they also provide a much-appreciated breakfast snack for us and then, at the end of the day, a delicious supper. Have to say that I love travelling these scenic backroads, but I also really enjoy getting together with everyone afterwards. This is one of my favourite Bird Counts, and perhaps the most favourite.
Just before leaving for Calgary at the end of the day, we were shown the family's Llamas, two Donkeys, Peacocks, and several tiny white Quail. I should have taken photos of these animals when it was daylight - but maybe I can do it next year.
Thanks so much for doing all the driving, Tony and Andrew, and thanks, Leah, Bill and Mike for all the effort and time you put into your warm welcome! It was another well-organized Count, Mike, as usual - thanks. Can't wait for next Christmas!

Update about my daughter:
She is out of the hospital and back at home, but now knows that she will most likely have to have major surgery. She is in shock, me too, and I feel so upset for her.

Unfortunately I only have limited time for Flickr at the moment, so I don't comment much. I hope to return on full speed some time before too long.
But for now I just focus on my daily pictures.....
The thing about taking picture in London is that everything has been taken already from every angle…However it is always nice to have your own take and one for your collection.
With this picture I managed to get a light trail from the party boat, one from the bus going pass on the bridge and if you look just about the bridge you can see some plane light trails.
Few increases in LR just to bring the picture out a bit more….

Christmas tree with lights at dusk in the Market Place at Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, England.
I’d just like to wish all of my calendar & jigsaw customers and image & print buyers a very happy and peaceful Christmas and Happy New Year for 2021!
Many thanks to everyone that bought one of my 2021 calendars and helped raise money for Harrogate Hospital & Community Charity, Leeds Cares and Yorkshire Air Ambulance this year. Together we’ve raised £300 this time with over £240 due to Harrogate Hospital & Community Charity alone!
I’d also like to say a big thank you to everyone that supported my new jigsaws project and helped a small business through this challenging year.
Best wishes
Mark

I came across a small shop in the market area which sold nothing but coloured lights. This lighting arrangement presented a great photo opportunity & I spent a few minutes in there

The photos shown here were taken at night with my Nokia Cell Phone while touring this famous Cactus Garden at night, part of the setting surrounding the Ethel M Chocolate Factory. The gardens are free to tour to all visitors, you can enter the Chocolate Factory first for a quick tour and enjoy some samples, then go and see the lights during the Holiday Season. They are wonderful and whimsical and take quite a while to tour throughout. These photos are just a few samples of what to see at night.
