"If I can't *find* a reindeer, I'll *make* one instead." (The Grinch)
"So he took his dog Max, and he took some black thread, and he tied a big horn on the top of his head." (The Narrator) - From the Grinch, 1966 film.

An outtake from a photoshoot I did for a neighbour today, we we're aiming to get some family shots, but with Reindeer antlers around, I just couldn't resist, and I absolutely love the pose I caught Tim-Bit in for this shot.
Probably not my best photo of the day, but I love it either way!
Happy Friday everyone!

Invasion of Red Robby, a classic Japanese tin-bot. Ideally I would have liked him in spark mode as the panel in his chest eschews vivid red sparks. Unfortunately this feature is only available as he lurches and lumbers about and I needed him to stand still !

10/04/2010; Nope, I definitely didn't shoot this picture to be original, I know dozens of people visited this place before me and I'm pretty sure dozens of people have visited this place after me in the meanwhile already. But this is just 1 of those places of which you just got to have a picture or 2 in your collection.
I took the cable car up to the Botanic Gardens in Wellington and found the tunnels on the way up the hill lit with colour. A nice surprise on a spring day.
I know there is too much cloud and too much moon but it is an idea in progress, my 1st attempt adding coloured lights go night photos

Armed with my new Tokina 11 - 16 f2.8 I had a return visit to the WW2 heavy anti-aircraft battery in Old Woking Surrey. This place has now been cleaned up since my last visit. The field this structure sits in was a temporary traveller camp a few years back and the interior of this interesting war relic was a stinking rancid hell hole full of the travellers detritus. There are a few societies who have an interest in preserving such places and I suspect some of their members may have been responsible for the remarkable clean up.
Worth a visit with or without a back pack of LP paraphernalia. Pretty much in tact and daubed with some classic old school graffiti. The blue dusk sky and town light polution were most useful and I hope I did the old relic proud.
Due to the confined spin I managed to pick up some scalp spark burns to add to this weeks crushed index finger.
PS - I am more than pleased with this lens and wish I'd stumped up the cash a long time ago.
Part of a series.... A cobbled brick pavement/road in the rain, picks up the lights of the surrounding business' and shops.

Just wanted to have some fun in the park like I use to, only problem was that I had to find a park that was not gated and also not well lit....lol
tried to keep it simple, stuck some LED lights to the roundabout and sent in spinning...Cropped the picture a little in LR.

The first two of a larger series. I became totally enchanted by this light cast by the stained glass window.

My son watching the screen. I guess his vapours are ok, but I'm not sure about all that coloured light...

A long day visiting family out of town. Went for a very brisk walk just before dinner to try and get some Christmas bokeh in. Found a house with their outdoor trees lit up near the sidewalk so I went for it. I'm entirely happy with the end result, but it's the best shot I got in for the day so it will do.
I'll try to find time tomorrow for flickr catch up. Right now though, I think it may be bed time.
Hope all is well with everyone.

Architects of Air’s latest luminarium Mirazozo is a dazzling maze of winding paths and soaring domes. The large-scale inflatable sculpture, which comes to nearly 1200m², will take over the Sydney Opera House Forecourt from January 3 to 27, 2011.
Constructed of translucent vinyl, the multi-sensory space welcomes and inspires everyone who journeys inside. Islamic art and architecture, Archimedean solids and Gothic cathedrals meld together to form an awe-inspiring monument to the unexpected beauty of colour and light.
Built in 2010 and when erected measuring 60m x 18m by 10m, Mirazozo makes the most extensive use of the “illuminated seam” first explored in Architects of Air’s previous work, Amococo. The internal pattern of neon-lit seams creates a meditative configuration, where perception and reality can shift. It is the same effect created by the geometric design of Islamic art and architecture.
Visitors receive a map and are invited to remove their shoes before passing through the airlock. Once inside they can wander freely or just lie back and enjoy the structure’s ambience. Featuring several ‘dodecadomes’ (domes based on adaptations of the dodecahedron) and a large central dome – the largest open space structure that Architects of Air have ever built – many people find the luminaria a place for rest or meditation, where the environment can be both stimulating and calming at the same time.
The radiance of the daylight shining through the luminarium’s coloured PVC is surprisingly bright and directly impacts the senses. Through labyrinthine tunnels and cavernous domes, visitors are immersed in a medium of saturated and subtle hues. Vivid reflections of liquid colour spill across curved walls transforming faces and clothing.
No two visits are alike: visitors are excited to discover how different colours blend or resonate, and how the atmosphere inside alters according to the changing weather and light outside. The experience is also affected by how the public inhabit the luminarium. Visitors have likened being inside the luminarium to being in a futuristic space station or the human body.
A striking pose I thought. I didn't ask him to pose, he just seemed to oblige :) There's a clearer shot of him nextdoor.

And Relax! It's all over for another year!
Another chance to play with lights and the tree before the 6th!
I have been putting this modest Christmas tree up for about twenty years, there's a motor in the base which causes the lights to change colour. It's almost my only form of Christmas decoration.
