Rhyl Harbour, Denbighshire, North Wales.
Rhyl Harbour Coordinates....Latitude: 53.3092 / 53°18'33"N Longitude: -3.5053 / 3°30'19"W OS Eastings: 299800
Rhyl Harbour is located on the spectacular North Wales Coast and has undergone a dramatic refurbishment which has hugely improved the facilities on offer. The original timber yard which was used by sailing ships up until the Second World War, has been redeveloped and now offers storage for over 150 boats.
A new 65 metre launching slipway, pontoons and quay walls have also been installed as part of the redevelopment. The harbour now offers a range of fore and aft moorings and pontoon berths. Access from the slipway is available 2.5 hours either side of high water.
The spectacular Pont y Ddraig Pedestrian / Cycle Bridge Opened in October 2013, the bridge closes the gap on National Cycle Network Route 5, which runs along the North Wales coast line. This route provides traffic free access to the 'Wales Coastal Path' as well as to the new Harbour facilities. The bridge opens to allow vessels in and out of the harbour, and is operated from the harbour office within the quayside building.

A view from near the bandstand facing upstream along the River Esk at Whitby towards the swing bridge and the marina. The street lights and the lights from the houses and properties lining the river make for an impressive light show on the waters of the Esk.
Thanks for taking the time to view and comment on this and other images in my photo stream.

The entrance tunnel to the ancient Tuzluca salt mines in Igdir province, Turkey, is lit up with coloured lights. The rock salt layers were laid down millions of years ago and have been used for salt since the Hittite Empire, 14th C, BCE. The salt mines date to medieval times and still provide much of Turkey's salt. They are a popular site for halotherapy for people with lung conditions.

Taken at the same time as the one I posted a few weeks ago. This time from the other end of the tunnel.
Official name is Weston Mill Viaduct. It crossed Camel's Head Creek. The creek is mostly filled in now. In the background is the colourful lights of the incinerator.
A slight different view of my previous Shaky Bridge pic.
Two 1.7 second exposure images merged to emphasise the light trails. I tried this with 12 images but as good as the DJI Mini 3 pro is, it couldn’t hold perfectly still for 20 seconds to capture the pictures without movement of the drone.
For the final Macro Mondays challenge of 2021 we were asked to make a macro photo using two of the themes presented during the year. I chose "In Ice" (Feb 15) and "Forks" (Apr 26). I really enjoyed the 'In Ice' challenge when it came around. I'd never photographed using ice and I achieved some wonderful results. 'Forks' also proved to be an interesting challenge and I love my forks photos. So here's the result of the two - "Forks in Ice".
While I chose this one for Macro Mondays, I did end up with a number of other different versions for this theme - also there in my album. 😀
This is Plymouth's incinerator with its lights competing with the sunset.

Strange things happen in our lounge at night!
I was actually just about to pack away one last set of Christmas lights for another year, but decided to play around with a little light painting! This was my one and only practice shot. I'm sure it won't be my last.
The Basilica cistern, the largest of several ancient cisterns lying beneath Istanbul, is located near the Hagia Sophia. It was built in the 6th C by the Byzantine emperor, Justinian. Water for the columned cistern comes via aqueducts from the north of the city. It is a water filtration system that still provides water to the nearby Topaki Palace.
Return visit to last night's location, this time armed with the correct grade wool and home with what I had originally envisaged. As it was a warm evening and the grass dry enough to lie on I decided to use this location to try a stacked star trail to be composed on to the main scene. More than pleased with the result. :)
60 exposures stacked on top of a couple of mins of LP chaos with a slight croppage to centralise the image.

The Opera House during Vivid Sydney 2019 with boats wizzing passed her. Best viewed on a large computer screen 😎 I shot this from a location on top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge which gave a great vantage point to view the harbour... the coloured light trails are the lights from all the cruise, tour and ferry boats during the Vivid Sydney light festival as they pass by using long exposure photography. Each boat has coloured lights draped all over them a bit like a christmas tree! and the result using long exposures gives a really expressive look like someone dramatically splashed paint across my image. The gem in the centre of the image is the Sydney Opera House, which has an artists movie projected on to it from across the other side of the harbour. This years film was based on Australian flora.

Sung Sot Cave (Cave of Surprises) on Bo Hon island, with coloured lights, Ha Long Bay, north Vietnam. Sung Sot Cave is an excellent example of a old phreatic cave, formed over 500 million years of tectonic and uplifting activity in the limestone rocks, with periods of marine transgression and regression.
bent's garden centre in warrington is a great place to go if you have young kids, the displays of christmas lights that they have are really good, my two little boys were mesmerised by all the colours on show.
