Colour in the winter woodland is even more precious in this apparently least colourful season. The wet weather has certainly made what colours there are shine and this example from a recent visit to Savernake Forest could easily be mistaken for autumn!
Yes, this is a colour photograph. The lake is frozen over now ... covered in a shallow blanket of snow and resembles the photo that I took years ago - displayed in the first comment box below - albeit the light was much warmer on that day although still monochromatic.
Once again that little island plays an important role in my photography. See the following link for many more photos of the island... flic.kr/p/FRvThK

It is a French circus that erected its tent on Redbourn's village green (Hertfordshire). I usually do monochrome photography - with the Leica M8 in particular (for some sensor-related reasons), but more generally because I feel that I am on unsafe territory when it comes to colour. I don't believe that my sense of colour is good enough for colour photography. In this case, I must doubt whether I have got the colour red as it should be. At least, I tried. Another day, another leaf tuned... three leaves obviously. I have made this image with thanks and respect to Georgia O’Keefe, and Lawren Harris for that matter, who both opened my eyes when I was a young lad many decades ago.
A series celebrating and documenting autumnal leaves once they have left the tree. Focus stack of 7 images.
Cotterdale Beck has several other smaller falls in its course before joining the Ure, but Cotter Force is the largest. The force is not visible from the road, but it takes only a short walk to reach it. It comprises a series of six steps each its own small waterfall with the largest single drop being about 5 feet (1.5 m). The force is narrower at 13 feet (4 m) at the top widening to 43 feet (13 m) at the bottom. A short path allows easy access from the A684 near Holme Heads Bridge approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) west of Hawes.
The artist J. M. W. Turner sketched here in July 1816 for his Yorkshire Sketchbook. The noted 19th-century etching artist Richard Samuel Chattock is known to have created two works of Cotter Force in 1864. Both etchings now reside in The Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco.
The colour of an flower standing before the lake of Harrold-Odell Country Park, succeeds over darkness.

With Autumn colour approaching and the nights fair drawing in… i thought id inject a splash of colour as my last two images where very monotone! Looking for new compositions at kinclaven is a challenge when iv shot there soo many times! I was pleased with this one! I just liked the shaping and positioning of the trees!
My torch of light, ethereal and eternal reference where I end up when water under my feet disappears, revealing only barren land without justice or meaning, pitcher to which I sing and tell secrets, desires, rages and the fear of that voracious, icy and implacable darkness.
