On March 17th, 2003, I arrived at Dante's view just in time for a complete white-out. After a half an hour of zero visibility there was a brief break in the cloud cover and I was able to get a few good shots. Although it looks like the snow is reaching the valley floor it is not, it's much too warm down there. What you're seeing down there is salt residue from an ancient sea.

The Japanese Cherry Tree in front of my apartment was only about 1/2 out when the brutal cold weather of a couple of nights ago struck. But yesterday's 70 degree temperatures brought it out full.....anywhere from 3 weeks to a month ahead of other years.

I will be moving from here next week. I've been very fortunate to have had these 2 beautiful trees to look out on. The spruce tree (below) was only up to the roof when I moved in 17 years ago.
